When one contemplates the concepts of cinema and attractions, the ideas of the modern day blockbuster film might come to mind. World disasters, car chases, and high profile police investigations are just some of the story lines that attract people to theatres year round. The term "cinema of attraction" introduced by Tom Gunning into the study offilm is defined more precisely. To quote Gunning, a cinema of attraction: "directly solicits spectator attention, inciting visual curiosity, and supplying pleasure through an exciting spectacle" (p.230). This spectacle may be demonstrated through dance, song or offscreen supplements, such as sound effects and spoken commentary. The ending (or the beginning В– it was interchangeable) helped place the film in history books. The scene involved one of the bandits shooting his pistol towards the audience creating a spectacle as the viewers, seeing this for the first time, believed they were being shot at. Many audience members were startled by this cinema tactic and the action shot became a great innovation in film (Dirk, 2007). The Great Train Robbery used a number of inventive techniques; including parallel editing, minor camera movement and location shooting. The director was one of the first to utilize jump cuts or cross cuts which displayed two separate lines of action or events happening continuously at identical times but in different places (Dirk, 2007). For instance, the film is intercut from the bandits beating up the telegraph operator (scene one) to the operators daughter discovering her father (scene ten), to the operators recruitment of a dance hall posse (scene eleven), to the bandits being pursued and splitting up the booty and having a final shoot out (scene thirteen) (Dirk, 2007). Furthermore, The Great Train Robbery was also the first film in which gunshots forced someone to dance, which is now a clichГ©d action in many western cinemas. Additionally, the use of colour was a spectacle seen in some of the women's attire, the gun shots and the explosions in the train. When a couple meets for the first time, the attraction can be instantaneous. They may describe the meeting as "a shock to the system", or "electric". When interviewed, the men may say "Everything else in the room faded, all I could see was her." Finally, endorphins are released through touch, which is why a mother's touch can soothe a crying infant. "Endorphins, for instance, can create the sensation of euphoria and relief from pain." In her book, A Natural History of Love, author Diane Ackerman discusses the importance of the hormone oxytocin in a person's experience of love. Oxytocin, also known as the "cuddle chemical", "plays an important role in romantic love, as a hormone that encourages cuddling between lovers and increases pleasure during lovemaking...The hormone stimulates the smooth muscles and sensitizes the nerves, and snowballs during sexual arousal." November 16 was a six country day. Several Miguel and I flew over, others we landed in. After leaving Tapachula, Mexico, we over flew Guatemala and made a fuel stop in El Salvador. We over flew Honduras and Nicaragua, eventually landing in Liberia, Costa Rica. The time spent over Guatamala turned out to be particularly memorable. The G in Guatemala must stand for green. From the cockpit, my eyes could discern every imaginable shade of green and no other hues. I had the impression farmers cultivated every available square inch of arable land. Prior to arriving at the airport, in my mind, El Salvador always conjured up Iran Contra and the 1980's Miami Vice type images of guerillas blowing up buildings. Fortunately, my perceptions turned out to be totally erroneous and our experience, while time consuming, was quite enjoyable. While talking to one of the workers at the airport, I commented on how outstanding the facilities were, not a difficult comment to express with total sincerity as the airport was beautiful and the facilities were significantly in excess of adequate. He spoke English fluently and his uncensored, genial response was, "Do you see how good it can be when you guys (Americans) don't mess around with us?" I heard comparable sentiments expressed numerous times throughout the trip. Miguel and I were now south of the airports along the border between the United States and Mexico and that made a world of difference. XXXXX This was the first time we landed at an airport which didn't routinely service private, non–commercial airplanes flying to or from the United States. This was suited well to research the question and hypotheses, because the conclusion was based on how participants interacted with one another. This was modified for the study, due to the fact that the researchers gathered information from the participants after the study in regards to their interactions with their partners. What was given to social context in the first study is that the participants were in a lab, which is not a normal social environment. The participants were also one on one for the first study and were obligated to ask a series of questions, which made this study a structured social context. Whereas in the second study the participants were anonymous and communicated over the computer, thus there was less structure. The law of attraction has three components. These are visualization, affirmations and positive thinking. Believers in the law of attraction techniques are also called "deliberate creators". They believe that the law of attraction helps them to achieve their goals and get what they want. The law of attraction is better understood in physics, but it is not well understood when applied to our lifestyles and endeavours. There is no scientific proof about the effects of visualization, affirmation and positive thinking. It is better left to psychologists. There is a striking similarity in most attraction laws.

The first law of attraction is called 'visualization'. Visualization in simple terms is the act of seeing of mental images. With regards to positive thinking, it means deliberately creating mental images of your goals. Your goals are your desires and what you want to get or achieve. If you want to manifest anything into the physical world, you have got to move out of the desire forming stage and into the alignment stage. There are two ways in which you can become aligned with your desires, they are believing and feeling good. When you have massive expectation and actually begin to believe that you have what you are asking for, in that moment you will become perfectly aligned with what it is you want and so the law of attraction matches like with like and ultimately yields you the stuff. Affirmations and vision boards are examples processes that are used to yourself believing your desire is already here. The second way of alignment stage is feeling good. This step is the easiest because all you have to do is feel good and you will manifest the stuff you want. The law of attraction does not hear or see your thoughts; it responds to your vibration which is primarily affected by your feelings. If you practice these ways of first letting go and then the ways of the alignment stage, it is a sure thing that it will work. Personally, when we watched the documentary in class two weeks ago I had never heard of the law of attraction or how it worked. After watching the movie I was skeptical about if it truly worked or not so I decided to do an experiment of my own and see what would happen when I followed all the rules to the law.
