By now you may have heard that I opened up a NEW shop in MO, within 414 Company! The minute I stepped inside this huge historic building with patina & charm unlike no other, I knew I wanted to open up a shop inside! In May, we planted a small seed Due to the overwhelming response, we are in the process of curating over 1000 sq ft of pure Buttermilk Basin goodness!

This location will become an extension of Buttermilk Basin where I will travel to frequently to host workshops, events, seasonal open houses and more! My hope is to inspire you not only through my designs, but through my love of all things vintage! Within these walls you will also find the best curated vintage offerings from my FAV dealers, who I am honored to call my friends! So, this journey is also about feeding my soul, spending time with girlfriends and making memories!

I’d love to have an opportunity to meet you in September at our very first event, “Buttermilk Basin Collective Gathering ” From a Fall Open House, a 3-Day Curated Handwork Event for stitchers, to Creative Lifestyle Workshops, there is something for everyone! Basically, it’s a blissful marriage of Buttermilk Basin and my love for Vintage Goods If you love the hunt for a good find, are looking for girlfriend’s getaway, want to be surrounded by inspiring people or want a good old fashioned shopping trip we ’ ve got you covered! See you soon!

about the collective gathering

the venue

Location Excelsior Springs, MO

A truly transformative space, the 414 Company {also where our 2nd retail location is home to} is the perfect venue to hold our “Buttermilk Basin Collective Gathering” 3 Day Curated Handwork Event + Vintage Market Place + Daily Creative Lifestyle Workshops.

It’s conveniently located 30 minutes NE of Kansas City as well as 30 minutes South of Hamilton MO {Home to Missouri Star}. It’s also owned by my bestie, Brenda & her husband Mark Kilgore, who just happen to be amongst the “pick of the crop ” in the vintage & antique world and have an ever evolving vision for this stunning venue! It also is home to their vintage and antique shop, coffee shop & venue where you will find our 2nd retail location and where this event will take place. It is surrounded my darling shops, delightful restaurants and is the next up & coming place!

the dates

Dates September 17th-21st, 2024

The atmosphere this venue creates for those of us whose designs are inspired by the past is unbeatable! You know I love to be on the forefront of something big & exciting so this event will be unlike no other! The festivities, including curated workshops & epic events start on Tuesday, Sept 17th and go through Saturday, Sept 21st. And the best part- anyone who loves vintage goods can come and enjoy being surrounded by inspiration and can even sit down and make a small project without any skills! We want everyone to have the opportunity to be inspired!

Each day, our store will be open to the public for you to shop, take workshops, classes, enjoy demos, and take in special events, including one of 2 trunk shows from Edie McGinnis, who is former associate editor of Kansas City Star Quilts. Exciting!

Stacy loves to surround herself with people who inspire her with their passion, enthusiasm and who feed her creative soul in the quilting industry! Mini Event #101 | Day | Time | Cost

Guest Lecturer: Edie McGinnis

Kansas City Star Quilts

Edie McGinnis is the former associate editor of Kansas City Star Quilts. During her tenure at The Star, she began collecting antique quilts that had been made by quilters using the patterns that had been published in The Star from 1928 to 1961 During her trunk show, she tells how the quilt feature in the paper came about, the patterns that were published, as well as the designers who had overseen the feature. She recently curated an exhibit of her collection at The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mini Event #102 | Day | Time | Cost

Guest Lecturer: Edie McGinnis Feedsacks

Vintage cotton bags that once held commodities are featured in this trunk show Not only will you be able to see a wide range of original bags, but beautiful quilts made from these humble fabrics are also shown You will hear about how staples for the kitchen such as salt, sugar, and flour, as well as feed for farm animals, came to be packaged in fabric bags. During hard times, the bags were an enormous windfall to the homemaker who sewed clothing for the family. And once the bag manufacturers began using dress prints for the bags, women were able to make lovely clothing from the fabric some called “chicken linen.”
