We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation to our great Butterfly legend, Timo Boll and Michael Maze, for over 30 years of their contribution as a Butterfly table tennis player.

Timo and Michael are retiring but their legacy will live on many years to come and will inspire next generation of table tennis players without a doubt. The pursuit of flexibility and bounce

Following an extensive nine­year research program, Spring Sponge X was developed to generate more power. Its response was increased by 14 %, with impact resilience enhanced by 3 % compared to the current Spring Sponge. The result is a big difference in the level of power produced. Spring Sponge X is the key to bringing high performance to Dignics.

Spring Sponge technology increases flexibility of the sponge. Like a coil spring, the Spring Sponge absorbs the incoming energy of the ball and releases it as additional power for the player’s own shot. Rubbers with Spring Sponge technology enable shots with high amounts of spin.

Feel the power of Spring Sponge

The rubbers of the Tenergy series differ mainly in the structure of their pimples. The long, narrow pimples of the Tenergy 64 allow a soft feel and high speed, while the wide, short pimples of the Tenergy 25 provide hardness and precision. The pimple structure of the Tenergy 05 and Tenergy 19 is especially suitable to produce high rotation values. Narrower

pimples in a more dense arrangement make the Tenergy 19 more flexible than the Tenergy 05. The Tenergy 80 uses pimples as on the Tenergy 05, whereas pimple spacing and length are more comparable to the Tenergy 64. The playing characteristics of the Tenergy 80 lie exactly between the 05 and 64.

Ilius S

Feint Soft is a long pimpled rubber with stability recommended for players who play close to the table, and for choppers who value stability. It is less likely to be affected by the opponent’s spin and speed, and thus can easily return strong topspins. It is also suitable for chops and shots without spin.

Feint OX

This is a long pimpled rubber recommended for playstyles making use of variation. Since the rubber has no sponge, it is lightweight and has less bounce.

A rubber without sponge; it is light weight and has low elasticity.

Butterfly Rubber Specifications

A table tennis rubber is made from a combination of a top sheet and a sponge (except for Rubbers without sponge).

Top Sheet

The top sheet is the surface on which the ball hits. Therefore, the performance or characteristics of the top sheet has a significant influence on the game. Butterfly rubbers are available in black and red top sheet colours for each rubber. As stated in the ITTF Rules, “The surface of the covering material on a side of the blade, or of a side of the blade if it is left uncovered, shall be matt, black on one side, and of a bright colour clearly distinguishable from black and from the colour of the ball on the other”. This means if black rubber is applied to the forehand side, red rubber must be applied to the backhand side (or vice versa). There is no difference in rubber performance between different top sheet colours.

Sponge

The sponge thickness/hardness varies the performance of the rubber which influences your game.

Sponge Thickness

Each rubber has a lineup of multiple sponge thicknesses. You can choose your sponge thickness depending on the performance you desire.

Sponge Hardness

The hardness of the sponge is measured by Butterfly’s own standard. The higher the value, the harder it is, and the lower the value the softer it is.

A rubber with less friction; it is less affected by the amount of spin applied by the opponent.

Butterfly Rubber Performance Index

Speed / Speed (Pimples-out): Describing the rubber’s effect on ball speed in a relative manner measured/evaluated by Butterfly’s unique tests. The higher the value, the faster the speed and the more suited it is to offensive play. On the other hand, the lower the value, the slower the speed, and the more suited it is to defensive play.

Stability: Exclusively for Long pimpled, Pimples­out (without sponge) and Anti­spin rubbers. The stability (Probability of returning balls) during chops, pushes, punches and blocks is evaluated on a 10­point scale. “Total” is the average value of evaluation during each technique.

*The performance index for Butterfly rubbers has been revised from February 2023 in line with improved measurement methods.

Spin / Spin (Pimples-out): Describing the rubber’s effect on the amount of spin generated on the ball in a relative manner measured/evaluated by Butterfly’s unique tests. The higher the value, the greater the amount of spin produced. On the other hand, the lower the value, the easier it is to generate balls without spin.

Variation: Exclusively for Long pimpled, Pimples­out (without sponge) and Anti­spin rubbers. The variation (Probability of unexpected spin/shot) during chops, pushes, punches and blocks is evaluated on a 10­point scale. “Total” is the average value of evaluation during each technique.

Arc / Arc (Pimples-out): Describing the ease of generating a high degree of trajectory on the path of the ball in a relative manner measured/evaluated by Butterfly’s unique tests. The higher the value, the more likely it is that the ball will travel in the same direction as the racket swing during topspins. The lower the value, the lower the ball trajectory gets.

BLADES

Butterfly Carbon -Fiber Technologies

The regulations of the International Table Tennis Federation state: “At least 85 % of the blade by thickness shall be of natural wood.” In other words, we may adopt any special materials for the remaining 15 % for reinforcement. However, no high­performance rackets will be produced

only by attaching some special materials without analysis; balance is crucial to make the best product. Butterfly will continue to research materials that best suit the techniques of future generations as well as continually improving the quality of the blade.

Super Arylate-Carbon achieves a higher bounce by weaving in a larger amount of fibers than conventional Arylate-Carbon. In addition, adjusting the ratio of Arylate and carbon materials maintains blade suppleness which is a characteristic achieved via the use of Arylate-Carbon.

New processing techniques allow a denser link between Carbon and ZL-Fiber, leading to a blade with very little energy loss on the edges and a bigger and more homogenous “high reaction area”. This enhances the strengths of ZLC blades even more. Blades with Super ZLC fibers are fast with high precision and a direct touch, yet produce a fantastic feeling for any spin play.

Arylate-Carbon is a fiber used in many popular Butterfly blades and is used to produce stability and precision while providing increased ball dwell time compared to harder blades. ALC blades offer versatility, its typical “touch” in topspin play is favoured by many professional players as well.

Linking ZL-Fibers and carbon increases the stability and stiffness of the blade and results in a bigger “high reaction area” and less energy loss around the edges. ZLC blades are usually stable and fast with a harder touch that allows very precise play as well as spinny top spins. In comparison to softer blades, especially all-wood blades, the ball dwell time of ZLC blades is reduced, requiring a certain degree of technical skill to produce high amounts of spin.

Outerfiber™ / Innerfiber™

Even when the same artificial fiber is used for blades, performance varies based on where the fiber layers are positioned. Blades with an Outerfiber™ structure have artificial fiber layers placed just beneath the surface veneer a long­established design. They enhance the feel of artificial fibers, enabling faster shots. In contrast, blades with an Innerfiber™ structure feature artificial fiber layers near the wooden core, a configuration first introduced in Butterfly’s blades in 2009. This structure provides a touch of longer dwell time, while preserving the unique characteristics of the fiber. Each structure offers unique characteristics, so select your blade based on the performance and feeling you desire.

ZL-Fiber is a remarkably thin and hardened material lending speed, lightness and a homogenous bounce to the blade. Blades with ZLF are commonly known for their lightness and controlled, soft touch with an increased ball dwell time that makes it easier to actively create spin compared to harder blades.

The CAF (Control Assist Fiber) fiber increases the stability of a blade and provides a constant bounce all across the blade’s surface. As a result, the precision of the blade is increased, as is the feeling of control during active play.

Very thin fiber obtained by finely loosening plant fibers such as wood to Nanometer size, Cellulose Nano Fiber (CNF) enables blades with low vibration, providing the feeling of “holding the ball” to the blade, despite high reaction values.

Tamca 5000 is a carbon fiber, enhancing stability and precision of a blade, enabling the production of fast and dynamic blades with a moderate weight. Usually, T5000 blades are fast, direct and precise with a hard touch, supporting especially powerful fast play close to the table.

Europa II

25mm surface | ready­assembled | easy to transport

The table model that has been tried and tested for many years has a new look and a modified underframe. Due to its high stability and small footprint1, we recommend the Europa 25 II for clubs and schools that have limited storage space. The table consists of two separate halves, each with a stable steel base. This ensures a secure stand, is folded away for storage2 (snap­lock system for fixing the legs) and therefore takes up very little space. Transport is possible thanks to the two castors3 (diameter 128 mm with rubber tread), which are mounted on the net edge side of the two halves. The castors are not visible during play. The Europa 25 II table model is pre­assembled at the factory (except for the wheels) and is approved by the ITTF for competitive play, including the European safety certificate (EN 14468­1).

Our top of the range table is the Butterfly Centrefold 25. It has been selected for the World Championships and many other international and national competitions. The Centrefold 25 is a heavy duty match table used by top clubs, sports centers and for international match play. Its main advantage is the 25+ top (see info box).

This ingredient added to the surface increases the consistency and reliability of the bounce of the ball for both topspin and backspin shots so producing excellent playability. It reduces skid and gives players every confidence to play their shots. The top is protected by a strong steel frame with magenta corner pieces. The undercarriage is one of the strongest available. It incorporates 4 large Steinco 125 mm strong wheels ¹, 2 of which have brakes. This guarantees both firm standing and easy movement. Transportation and storage is easy with the unique space saver system which makes folding and rolling the table simple and safe. The table tops fold together at the center ⁵, reducing the width in the storage position to only 20 inches or 51 centimeters. A unique easy to use safety system ³ prevents the table from opening and closing accidentally. A perfectly level playing surface is achieved by use of the height adjusters ² on all four of the end legs.

25+ Surface –a very special detail

The 25+ surface provides a finer grain compared to regular table surfaces, which not only results in a constant ball bounce and increased durability, but also reduces skid. This Technology was optimized for the requirements of cell­free balls. The clean imparting of spin onto the ball creates a playing experience of the highest order.

Octet 25

25+ surface | flexible | space saving

The Butterfly Octet 25 mm is a top competition table that provides all the benefits of the 25+ top (see infobox on page 4) combined with an undercarriage with 2 separate halves and 8 wheels. The top is protected by a strong steel frame with magenta corner pieces. It is supported by a heavy duty undercarriage. A perfectly level playing surface is archived by use of the height adjusters ⁴ on all four of the corner legs.

The Butterfly Octet 25 divides into two halves, both fold for easy movement and storage. Each half has four strong independent Steinco wheels³. The brakes and locking mechanism prevent accidental opening or closing of the table ² / ⁶. The table stores away economically with the two halves fitting together. The total width of the table for storage is only 63 cm. For multi table use the tables can be rolled together for even more compact storage ⁵. Another popular feature of the table is the playback facility where one half can be set in the storage position, the other in the play position with the net and post set in place. This provides the opportunity for extra practice when a partner is not available. The table requires assembly and clear instructions are provided.

Space Saver 22/25

Ready assembled | super compact system

The Butterfly Space Saver 22 and 25 is one of the most popular match tables in the Butterfly range. It is suitable for tournament and club play. With its 22 mm and 25 mm surface the Space Saver is in use of hundreds of clubs, sport centres and schools. The top is protected by a strong steel rim with magenta corner pieces, supported by a steel undercarriage which has 4 wheels, 2 of which that have brakes ² for use in the playing and storage positions. A perfectly level playing surface is guaranteed with height adjusters ³ on all four legs. Transportation and storage is easy with the unique SC folding system ¹ which makes folding and rolling the table away simple and safe. The tops fold together at the centre, reducing the width for storage to on 56 cm. A unique safety system ⁴ prevents the table from opening and closing accidentally.

The Butterfly Space Saver is one of the few match tables which is wheelchair friendly. This table is delivered ready assembled so that all that is required before using the table is to take off the packaging, roll the table out and fit the net and post set. The Space Saver is approved by the International Table Tennis Federation for use in competitions. It has a European Safety Certificate (EN 14468­1).
