COMMUNICA AND MEDIA STU You will gain the tools that are necessary to engage in critical inquiry and effectively communicate to challenge and change the world we live in. We blend innovative coursework and experiential learning opportunities, both in and out of the classroom, so you are well equipped with the practical skills essential in today’s job market. Both majors in this department–Critical Communication and Media Studies and Organizational Communication and Leadership–can be completed in just three years.

FILM STUDIES MINOR An excellent complement to many majors, the Film Studies minor seeks to promote a critical understanding of the art and experience of cinema and its influence on society and culture. You’ll receive an introduction to the medium from a theoretical perspective by combining classes in film history as well as critical analysis of both fiction and non-fiction forms.

MAJORS

CRITICAL COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES (CCM) CCM students understand and value critical inquiry, social justice, and diversity. Do you ever wonder why your leaders and your media don’t look more like your community? Do you question the images and ideas related to race, class, gender, and sexuality? This humanities-based program examines all those questions and more, providing an exciting and dynamic place to examine popular culture’s influence on ourselves and on society.

ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP Whatever your trajectory in life, you’ll need the skills to intelligently, strategically, and intentionally express yourself if you want to challenge and change the world you live in. This program blends coursework with opportunities for local, national, and international real-world experiences, preparing you to lead corporate or nonprofit organizations or continue on to post-graduate studies–truly unlimited possibilities.

COMMUNICA SCIENCES AND DISORDERS Breaking down communication barriers is essential to what we do and how we

make communication accessible to all. Applied practice with both children and adults is at the core of our Communication Sciences and Disorders program. Our program provides extensive choices for both observations in and around the Indianapolis community as well as direct, hands-on experiences with clients coping with communication disorders. And, because our focus is on the undergraduate level program, our faculty are dedicated to helping you achieve your professional goals. We place a strong emphasis on skills needed to be a successful graduate school candidate and a wealth of resources to make that happen. With our three-year degree track option, you can even enter graduate school a year earlier and get a jump start on your career.
