The cartridge opening may become blocked if you have not used the printer for a long time. In addition, Error E05 may occur if the cartridge holder malfunctions or is not correctly placed.

Ink or dust particles may also cause Canon printers to display error code E05. It is, therefore, necessary to re-install and clean the clogged cartridge.
Take off the cover of the Canon printer first. Using the power button, turn off the printer and remove the ink cartridge.
Next, wipe the "golden metallic strip" on the front of the ink cartridge with a soft, clean piece of cloth. After cleaning the cartridges, install them and see if the error persists after turning on the printer.
