April 2020—VOL 8— Issue Two
With great fortune, the Butler Benefit Auction was held prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States. We recognize how lucky we are as nonprofits around the world are canceling their annual fundraisers. With grateful hearts, we say thank you to everyone who helped make our 23rd auction “Around the World in 80 Days” a success! The event raised $245,000, with $90,000 being raised during the cash appeal Pure Philanthropy—what an extraordinary achievement for our event! It was my first time to be part of the planning and attend the auction. It is evident how important and enjoyable our guests and donors find this event—and for good reason! The student involvement highlights the reason we are all there and adds to the levity and fun of the auction. I especially want to thank Lance and Lisa Lechtenberg, who served as our honorary co-chairs, and our top sponsors: HollyFrontier, Bank of America, BG Products, Commerce Bank, IMA, Professional Engineering Consultants, BKD, and Premier Food Service. COVID-19 Update
Butler reacted quickly to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States. As of March 30, all employees are working from home and campuses are temporarily closed to outside visitors. The remainder of the semester is being taught completely online. Business is functioning as usual with phone and email capabilities. We are proud of our response to this pandemic. DID YOU KNOW? Our IT department worked around
the clock to enable Butler to mobilize and move to complete online learning for the rest of the academic year. More than 700 laptops were configured for employees in a week and a half.
We are still here for you! Though the Foundation is working remotely, we are still here to serve our donors and students. If you are interested in making an immediate impact, you can give online to our Butler Student Emergency Fund at foundation.butlercc.edu/student-support. These dollars will directly help students who have found themselves in difficult situations due to the pandemic. Our mission to assist students and that is what we will continue to do!
