HE government, through the Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corp. (PNOC-EC), may yet purchase a “certain percentage” of Shell Petroleum N.V.’s stake in the offshore Malampaya gas-to-power project. “There is a possibility that we might be able to get certain percentage of Shell’s share. Later, SPEX sold its stake to Malampaya Energy for $380 million, with additional payments of up to $80 million between 2022 and 2024, contingent on asset performance and commodity prices.
