HARTUNG FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
GARY GEMBERLING – ESTATE GIFT
Jack and Nancy Hartung of Naperville are funding a restricted scholarship to support accounting students. Four students will receive funding for 2015 – 2017 and two students will receive funding for 2016 – 2020. Nancy earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Illinois State in ’78 and ’79 while Jack earned a bachelor of science in accounting in ’79 and an MBA in ’80. Their son Christopher earned a bachelor of science in finance from Illinois State in ’06. Jack is the CFO for Chipotle Mexican Grill, is a member of the College of Business Hall of Fame, and was the featured speaker for Business Week in 2015.
Gary Gemberling ’63 is a successful entrepreneur, a certified public accountant, a personal financial specialist, and a certified financial planner. He is the founder of four CPA firms and sold three of them. In all, Gemberling held ownership interest in 25 diverse businesses. He is actively involved in the community and serves on the Illinois State University Foundation Board and is a member of the College of Business Hall of Fame. Through his estate, Gary will create the following funds supporting students and faculty: Gary R. Gemberling Endowed Professorship in Business; Dixie L. Mills Endowed Professorship in Finance; College of Business Dean’s Administration Fund; College of Business Dean’s Endowed Scholarship; and Entrepreneurship Start-up Fund.
DOUG HART ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP
Doug Hart ’95 is an audit partner with Deloitte. He and his wife Jenifer are starting a restricted scholarship to support accounting students. Beginning in the fall 2015 semester, a new freshman majoring in accounting will receive financial support for up to five years as he/she completes the curriculum in preparation for the CPA exam and a career in accounting.

Ben Hart ’95 MBA and his wife Katie ’12 MBA created a restricted scholarship that will benefit an incoming freshman majoring in business. The student selected will receive funding for four years. Ben is the president and CEO of Heritage Enterprises Inc. and Green Tree Pharmacy Inc. Katie is a marketing manager with State Farm Insurance.

Mike Essington ’81 and his wife Karen are funding a restricted scholarship to benefit students majoring in BIS. Money will be utilized annually to support students in the classroom as well as for their professional development through regional and national case competitions. Mike and Karen are recently retired from State Farm where they worked in IT and systems.
SIKICH IMPACT FUND
The relationship between Sikich and the Illinois State University Department of Accounting has continued to flourish, resulting in successful hiring and retention of Illinois State graduates. This new commitment of financial support will continue to provide visibility for Sikich among accounting students and faculty while helping the College of Business attract and retain accounting faculty and provide leadership development opportunities for students.
