Healthy Dividends—Changing to BluePrints for Health Blue Cross is stepping their Get Healthier program up a bit. As of June 1, 2008 we will all be encouraged to go online to their Website and visit the BluePrints for Health section. BluePrints for Health will be similar to Healthy Dividends, but will offer special options that will help you get healthier. Whether you want to lose those pounds that are kind of hanging around, or get more active with a fitness program, cook healthier, or kick that smoking habit...BluePrints for Health will give you access to ideas, proven strategies—even a management team that will help you reach your personal goals!!

SPECIAL NOTICE: Healthy Dividends Participants: Since July, some of us have been using the Healthy Dividend program. Personally, I am pleased to say, that I have lost almost 45 pounds with Weight Watchers through Healthy Dividends. I know others are being successful, as well. I can’t begin to tell you how much better I feel. Some of our employees have kicked the smoking habit! Others have been going to their various Fitness Centers, getting stronger and more physically toned. These programs have been replaced with others that now come under BluePrints for Health effective date to be announced. Our current reimbursement plans will cease as of June 1, 2008. Please send your Exercise Logs, Smoking Cessation info or Weight Watchers Program receipts of payment with a Healthy Dividends Reimbursement Form to BC by July 1st for reimbursement. Harrington, Delaware

Every day we hear about the sacrifices our men and women in the armed services are making on our behalf. They are in harm’s way every day fighting terrorism and helping Democracy get a foothold in the Middle East.

They are protecting our shores and our interests all over the world. And success in their daily undertakings is critical to our success as a nation and indeed, for the good of all mankind. They deserve our prayers and thanks, daily.

So, when Jay Galloway, a veteran and one of our drivers in Harrington, asked if we would consider a donation for the Delaware Service men and women serving in Iraq. We said we’d be glad to help. Having served in Iraq, he could attest to the importance of receiving the little things from home, how they make life bearable “over there”. He suggested donations of these little things we take for granted such as a book to read, a game to play, a video, or maybe even some chewing gum or other snackfood.

It started slow at first, but when Tina Hawkins and Kris Bruno got involved, the donations kicked into high gear. Now we have everything

from videos, snacks and board games to Frisbees, footballs, baseballs and books, and even some Avon product too! (Thank you Don and Toby)We also have personal notes written to no GI in particular, notes of thanks and admiration. (Thank you Edward H.) It really is a nice collection of usable items and various sundries. We’re sure they will appreciate the effort immensely.

We will be sending several large boxes to Iraq in hopes of making their time a little more tolerable, and we challenge anyone who reads this to do the same. And, to everyone at Burris Logistics in Harrington who helped with donations and their time, on behalf of the men and women in our armed forces, God bless you one and all. Larry B. It is with great pleasure I announce

the promotion of Paul Ranalli to North Regional Maintenance Manager.

In Paul’s new role, he will work with Joe Morris and each North facility Maintenance Supervisor and GM in keeping our facilities in peak operational condition and service while adhering to all local, state and federal regulations.

Paul began his career at Burris in 1986. Paul has held positions as an order selector, crane operator, forklift operator, receiver and shift supervisor before becoming a maintenance engineer. Paul has gained great knowledge and expertise with ammonia based refrigeration systems and all functions within the maintenance field while supervising the Maintenance Department in Harrington, where he will continue to lead that team in addition to his new duties.

Paul has been an eager volunteer in many of our new start ups and building projects. He was part of the WinnDixie start up team in Sumter, then at Benson, New Castle, Atlanta and recently at Honor in Philadelphia. Paul’s “make it happen” attitude along with a conscientious pride he takes to his daily work, exemplifies what make’s Burris a great organization, our people.

We’re proud to have Paul on our TEAM and are thankful for his contributions in the past and excited in how he will help Burris grow and become better in the future. Paul and his wife Tracey along with their two sons Brandon and Ryan reside in Harrington.

It was a joyous time for all when Burris Logistics held it’s annual Christmas Bowling Party at the Milford Bowling Lanes. This tradition, dating back more than 15 years, allows associates from New Castle, Milford and Harrington to enjoy a happy time with their families and friends. It is always well attended and the children really have a ball, due mostly to the annual “special guest” appearance by Santa Claus himself!

While the holidays have passed and we are all well into the promise of a New Year, everyone at Harrington would like to wish all of our associates, customers, friends and family alike, from Connecticut to Florida and every place in between, a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. May the Lord bless us all.

Federalsburg, Maryland Burris Star of the Quarter Congratulations to Lynn Morean. Lynn is a long time Burris employee with over 27 years. During her time with Burris she has worked in many departments and for both the Federalsburg and Milford offices. One of her primary functions is driver payroll and accounts payable. Lynn strives for accuracy and it reflects in her work. She goes above and beyond and always gives 110%, and does so with a smile. She is well respected and admired by her peers. Lynn is very family oriented and enjoys spending time with her fiancé Dave, and with her nieces and nephews. Lynn is also an avid supporter of Relay for Life. Congratulations Lynn, we couldn’t do it without you!

30-Years and Counting Mr. Randall Anderson recently celebrated 30-years with Burris Logistics. For those 30 years Randall had been a driver. Most recently he decided to slow down a bit. Besides occasional driving, he also performs duties as our 2nd shift yard jockey. Randall said it’s not in his nature to retire completely…he wouldn’t know what to do with all of his time!!!

For Randall’s dedication and service he was presented with a Burris Shirt and a Gas Card.

I

t is hard to believe that nine months have passed since Burris Logistics acquired Honor Foods, now known as Honor Foods, Division of Burris Logistics. As you can imagine, much happened at the time of acquisition and since, including:

• Drug screens for all employees • A hectic sign up for all benefits (Wilma Carey was unbelievably helpful) • A bit of concern by all the employees hired by Burris Logistics about their futures with the new company (change is never easy) • New replacement hires for the warehouse and driver units (during the transition, Burris provided 12 seasoned warehousemen from various of its facilities to supplement our workforce. This was incredibly helpful and an example of transition planning • A barbecue for all our employees with some of the best beans ever (attended by Bob Burris) • Many new policies, expectations, and goals for our employees

With all these initial events and concerns now history, our new partnership looks forward toward fulfilling those expectations, both those of Honor Foods and Burris Logistics.

“Make it Happen” and “I am Burris” are seen not as slogans but as words to guide us in this new partnership. With an emphasis on teamwork, our employees now realize that they are making a difference.

Richard Black, our general manager and Greg Cyganiewicz, our operations manager, have forged a relationship among all our employees that speaks volumes about how well an organization can work toward a common goal: being ahead of the curve in all the things accomplished together. With the ongoing mentoring of Richard Singer, CEO, and Mark Tarzwell, Regional President, nothing stands in the way of our success.

Your Burris Support Team

consists of eight associates who are responsible for reactive and proactive tasks for each Burris facility and department. We serve as the primary point of contact for all IT related requests. So what happens when your Cisco IP Phone doesn’t work, you’ve forgotten your password, or any of a thousand IT related problems you may have? You call the support team!

When you call your support team at 302-839-5006 (or email us at support@burrislogistics.com), we immediately input your request through our computerized ticketing system. This allows us to properly prioritize, assign and complete your work order requests. If for any reason your request needs escalated, please contact Derrick Giuttari (Support Center Manager) at 302-8395136. We strive to “get like the customer” with the aim of giving 100% satisfaction to every associate.

The Support Center is physically staffed Monday through Friday from 5:00am to 11:00pm and Sunday’s from 6:00am to 2:00pm; however, the Support Team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

We are constantly striving to improve your support experience. Do you receive a work order number when you call (or email) a request to us? If not, ask us for it; having a work order number helps us to quickly retrieve the status of your request and keeps us from duplicating them. As always, if you have a critical request, please call us (rather than emailing). While we strive to attend to all requests, phone calls receive top priority! Lastly, at the top of every completed work order is a link to submit your feedback on how your request was handled. We’d love to hear from you!

In the last six months, three new members have been added to the Burris Support Team. Garrett Coleman, Mark Williams and Cliff Handy have joined our team to assist Burris’ corporate family to “Make It Happen.” Each of these gentlemen brings new talents and abilities to the Support Team. urris Elkton held a “Countdown to Christmas” during the month of December and filled each day with fun holiday-related activities. The staff had a great time and are already looking forward to next year!

The musical stylings of John Teixeira, Regional Vice President and Charlie Scrafford, Loss Prevention Manager, strumming their version of “Silent Night” with vocals provided by Jim Bertuola, Operations Manager.

Karaoke Lunch Hours every Friday during the month of December – watch out for some of them on the next American Idol!

The big holiday event was our Santa Saturday held at the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware.

Employees and their families came out to enjoy great food and fun – and most importantly the surprise visit from Santa! Some really great prizes were awarded, with Macario Vasquez winning the 32” flat screen grand prize!

Atlanta’s One-Year Anniversary

It all started one year ago… This past year has been a great year for Burris Atlanta and it’s employees. It was one year ago on February 4th when Burris Atlanta assumed the Atlanta operations for Distribution and Logistics for The Fresh Market. When we assumed the business there were 62 Fresh Market Stores operating. The first full week we shipped 107,733 cases and

delivered 120 loads to The Fresh Market stores. Today, one year later, we service 79 stores and ship an average of 120,000 cases on 108 loads per week. The Fresh Market has been a great partner for Burris. Their growth continues and with that Burris is committed to growing with them. When we started one year ago we shipped dry, cooler and frozen.

Since then we have added products to each of these departments along with live plants, fresh cut flowers and other produce department items. Currently there are 9 additional stores scheduled to open this year.

This has also been a great year for the employees at Burris Atlanta. This year has demonstrated Burris’ commitment to promote from within when at all possible. In March of 2007, James Davis was promoted from Receiving Checker to Receiving Supervisor. Stiven Sanchez who transferred from Orlando to Atlanta in February of 2007 was promoted to Backhaul Logistics Manager.

Hernan Guerrero transferred from Orlando to Atlanta in December of 2007 and was promoted to Assistant Transportation Manager. Tracy Webster joined Burris in February 2007 at the opening as a Customer Service Rep. She was recently promoted to Admin Manager. Dennis Hall was promoted from Shipping Supervisor to Ops Floor Manager. Guy Ploeckelmann was promoted from Refrigeration Maintenance

to Plant Engineer. Morris Westmorland was promoted from Maintenance Helper to a Level One Maintenance Tech. These promotions are just an example of how good, honest, great attitude and hard work pays off. Each of these employees is committed to providing the leadership, skills and customer service values to other employees that they come in contact with. These Supervisors and Managers are all connected to a link of “WOW” service that Burris delivers to its customers everyday.

The success Burris Atlanta has enjoyed is made possible by having Great Employees. Burris Atlanta is made up of 141 great people. 141 employees who care about their customers and care about

each other. They all share the same values in “Making it Happen” and “Getting it Right”.

Along with that, people with the same commitment support us. Ed Krupka and his IT staff have supported us with the tools to Get it Right and Make it Happen. Their support allows us to produce results that make our customers say wow. We call on Ed and his Team for help from time to time and they deliver to us the same as we deliver to our customers. Whether it is a receiving issue, slotting problem, a report needed or an item set up question. Our IT Team is committed to helping us Get it Right. Jeff Salo and his buying Team are always there to help us when we call on them. Whether it be to reschedule a backhaul pick up or to help push product. Jeff and the buyers never say we can’t. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, The Fresh Mar-

ket’s volume actually doubled. Our buyers did a great job in helping with the scheduling of inbound products and managing inventories to allow for smooth operations and not overloading our warehouse while at the same time maintaining an enjoyable service level to The Fresh Market. They were great at managing just in time inventories.

The support we get from the accounting Team cannot go over looked. Jennifer Black and Shawna Alexander has worked with us and helped in keeping our inventory variances to a minimum. These two know how to “GET IT RIGHT”. Anytime one of these two come across an issue or something that is not right you can bet they will not let it go over looked. They will follow up until the issue is corrected. Zach Flug, who joined Burris in April 2007, manages Burris Atlanta Transportation. Zach relies on Gary Quillen Corp. Fleet Manager to assist us with our issues and questions pertaining to our fleet. Our Transportation Fleet is currently made up of 30 tractors and 47 multi-temp trailers. Gary’s knowledge of fleet maintenance has played a vital roll in keeping roadside break downs to a minimum as well as cost savings in our transportation department. Gary has a great relationship with our service providers and he knows what arms to pull on when we run in to roadblocks getting what we want.

When you take the 141 Great

employees, managed and supervised by the Managers and Supervisors (especially the recently promoted listed above), supported by the corporate staff we are supported by there is nothing we cannot do.

These are the people that make happen the things that make our customers say “WOW”. These are the people that help us all say “I MAKE it HAPPEN”, “I GOT it RIGHT”, and most proud of all “I AM BURRIS”.

February Employee of the Month November Employee of the Month Jennifer Sanchez has been selected as our November 2007 Employee Of The Month! Jennifer works in the front office as a customer service

representative. As a customer service representative she is tasked with processing orders for Bj’s, Edy’s, and Disney, as well as ensuring we maintain great customer relations with all of our customers. Prior to becoming a CSR she worked in our Disney program as an auditor where she ensured we delivered only perfect orders to our customer! Jennifer began her career with Burris nearly three years ago and she consistently goes above and beyond in every aspect of her job requirements. Congratulation Jennifer on being our employee of the month for November 2007!

Congratulations Joe Valenti being for our Carvel Ice Cream program, but he also willingly fills in as a substitute security guard when the need arises. His dependability, conscientious attitude, and willingness to help out wherever and whenever are some of the reasons we selected Danny as our employee of the month! January Employee of the Month Jean Saintilus has been named as the Burris Orlando Employee of the Month for January. Working as a selector in the Disney department since he was hired in August of 2005, Jean has become one of the top selectors. According to his supervisor, Luiz Sandre, Jean is a great employee who is always a hard worker. He is very reliable, always

named the Orlando Employee of the Month for February! Joe first came to Burris Logistics in August of 2005. He came in as a selector, and has risen to become one of the top pickers here in Orlando. Joe is always a reliable and punctual employee. Although he is a selector, he is always willing to help wherever there is a need, weather it is replenishing in his own department or helping out in other departments.

Joe is an excellent employee and a great choice for Employee of the Month. Congratulations once again!

20 Ramon Santiago, Reach Driver - Nights Receiving, has been called back up for his third tour of duty in Iraq! Ramon has bravely served our country previously in the original Desert Storm back in 1991 and was called up again in 2005 to go back to Iraq! Ramon’s current orders call for him to once again go back to Iraq for eighteen months! During Ramon’s five years of service with Burris he has proven to be an exemplary employee and as such been awarded with our employee of the month award. He was also selected to represent Burris as the Refigiwear Warehouseman of the year for 2006! We look forward to welcoming Ramon back to work in 2009!

n December 1, 2007, we awarded the Safety incentive prizes for the second quarter of 08’! Our safety incentive program which began June 1, 2006 has proven to be very instrumental in bringing a new awareness to our safety goals. Orlando worked 125,167 hours (91 days) in the quarter with 1 minor injury! Additionally, Orlando finished calendar 2007 with an overall incident rate of 1 and no lost time accidents! Our current OIR represents a reduction of ninety-three percent from several years ago! We awarded the Safety Incentive prizes during our Christmas party this year! Congratulations to everyone in Orlando for making Safety our top priority everyday.

urris Orlando, began it’s 2008 United way campaign with a luncheon on Wednesday, October 31.The luncheon officially kicked off the campaign for donations to benefit United Way organizations. We had homemade Pork Loin with Red Beans and Rice. The luncheon was planned and organized by our office manager Stacey Hayes!.

Stacey organized a 50-50 raffle that was offered to all of our employees. Half of the money from the raffle went to the winner and the other half went to the United Way. We also had 64 employees sign up for the weekly payroll deductions benefiting the United way.

Thanks to the efforts of Stacey and all of our employees that participated we raised over Five -Thousand dollars making this the most successful campaign for the Orlando facility to date.

Dallas will receive a new Burris jacket embroidered with his name, a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart, and a plaque with the winning name will be dedicated in our safety information area. James will receive a new Burris jacket embroidered with his name, and a $50 gift card to WalMart. The jackets will signify both associates’ ongoing commitment to safety. The contest was a hit, and other associates have asked when the next contest will be held.

Getting our workforce interested in safety by more effectively communicating and getting buy-in to the safety program; looks like the real winners are Team Lyndhurst.

Safety is a team concept, and an effective safety program strives to solicit input from all associates. Seven months ago, members of Team Lyndhurst expressed a desire to improve communication on the safety front with the goal of making the facility safer for employees and visitors alike. Talks in safety committee meetings centered on getting our younger workforce more interested in the concept of working safely at all times. Many times in our youth we have surrounded ourselves with the aura of invincibility; and in the warehouse environment, this can lead to accidents and injuries. So we had to find a hook that would not only spark their interest in safety, but would also allow them to have creative input to their safety program. Program – television – reality shows – competition - making a difference – winning prizes. . . that’s it, we needed to stage a safety contest that would award prizes for improving our safety program.

It just so happened that we had remodeled our safety information center in the break room, and the only thing it needed was a name. Eureka! Let’s hold a contest to name this area. The judging panel received forty-eight entries from twenty-three associates. The panel met to determine the winning entry. And the winning name is. . . *Corner W.A.T.C.H. (We As a Team Can Help)*

Dallas Humphreys submitted the winning entry.

When Dallas was asked how he came up with the winning slogan, he replied simply, “Safety is a team effort, and we need to look out for others as well as ourselves.” Safety is a team effort – now those are powerful words. James Sheaves submitted the second place entry, “Connection Left Dallas Humphreys 1st place winner Corner (Make It Happen – Get Connected with Safety).”

On March 22, 2008, the Lyndhurst facility set a new record of 243 consecutive days without a lost time injury. This was an exceptional goal reached by all members of Team Lyndhurst! On the job injuries affect us all, and for the past eight months every one of us went home at the end of our working day safe.

This is truly a team effort!

The management team would like to celebrate this achievement by hosting a catered lunch for all shifts. The dates are set for Wednesday April 9th and Saturday April 12th.

While this will be a great time to reflect on our success, it also becomes a time to look forward to our ongoing goal with the same commitment that all of you have shown. And that goal is to drive out the front gate at the end of your working shift as safe as you arrived – each and every day!

As we discussed, the new pay program for our Route Salespeople will begin next week. It will put added emphasis on myself and Burris to supply the ice cream ordered. Their pay is predicated on selling” the products they order. Thus out of stocks ( Charlie ) and mis picks ( Burris ) will be a point of complaint daily from the Route Salespeople ... simply put, money out of their pockets when they have no product to sell because it was cut or shorted due to mis picking.

I welcome this new challenge! It “will” increase our sales and grow our business. I know your team accepts this challenge as well... and will do whatever is necessary to make every order perfect prior to departure. We are also looking at some way to reward the effort needed to accomplish this as well... Possibly a cookout for the Burris employee’s when certain goals are met... anything that shows he team spirit and support needed for everyone to take “ownership” for their roles in making this a successful partnership. Haines City Burris has partnered with Single Source to assist in servicing the Southeastern U.S. Velda Farms is a leader in ice cream distribution throughout the South and to cruise ships sailing out of Florida ports. Velda Farms is a major dairy producer and distributor and we are extremely excited to provide exceptional service to them.

Wishnatzki Farms operates over 1500-acres of farmland in Florida. They distribute over 1,000 total acres of strawberries in Florida and the company ships approximately 2.5 million flats of strawberries and 2 million packages of other products a year throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Haines City Team welcomes Wishnatzki Farms.

Haines City has grown from 12 employees to over 40 employees in just the past three months. We have had three exciting start-ups during this time and are extremely proud of our accomplishments. From Haines City veterans to new employees, from Corporate I.T. to all the support provided from other facilities, none of these start-ups would have been nearly as successful without the dedication and great attitude shown by all.

has begun breaking ground on an additional 25,000 sq ft expansion to their existing Facility. The addition will serve and support an existing customer base as well as new business. Construction started April 1, 2008 and is slated to be complete around the September time frame. The Burris Lakeland Team is very excited about being able to handle our existing customer needs as well as being able to accept new business into the Lakeland Facility.
