Circus by the Sea Pack your thongs and sunscreen and dig out your old treasure map. Ruccis is inviting you on a summer holiday by the sea. This year Ruccis Students are proud to present ‘Circus by the Sea’; a swashbuckling adventure that takes you from the sunburnt beaches to the depths of the deep blue ocean. You’ll meet adorable penguins, magical mermaids, pesky pirates and SHARKS! The fabulous talent of our dedicated circus performers will take you on a theatrical ride from the shores out to the depths. Circus Skills Workshops The Ruccis Circus Team is back again and ready to turn all local daredevils into a well-oiled Circus Extravaganza!

The Fairy Show will have all fairies singing and skipping all the way home. Better still, with Dislocate’s trademark mix of comedy and acrobatics The Fairy Show will impress even the most cynical of older brothers! Follow the story of Fairy Smart, Fairy Snooze and Fairy Nuff as they try to grant some fairy wishes. Join in and learn the song that makes the fairy dust work and then go on a mad-cap journey to find the fairy dust that the naughty gnomes have stolen. Clues have been left, riddles must be solved and fun is had by everyone before anyone gets to make a fairy wish. Friday 4 July 11am All tickets $15. Suitable for Ages 2–6
JUST AERIALS
This class will focus just on circus aerial acts: such as trapeze cloudswing, rope and silks. Mon 7 July, 6.00pm–8.00pm (Ages 16+) Tues 8 July, 3.00pm–5.00pm (Ages 13–16yrs) Wed 9 July, 4.00pm–6.00pm (Ages 7–12yrs) STANDING TALL – FUN WITH STILTS
See what it is like to be a giant in this workshop designed to challenge your balance and fear of heights. Parent helpers are required for this workshop Parents entry is included in the child’s ticket. Wed 9 July, 1.30pm–3.00pm (All ages) * Parents participation required. $20 for 1.5 hour classes $25 for 2 hour classes (Includes a 15 min parents showcase at the end of the class.) Lose yourself in the hustle and bustle of The Circus Bazaar, where you’ll discover a cabaret of circus delights from across the globe. Burrinja has gathered an exotic selection of contemporary and traditional circus artists to titillate the senses. Be astounded as the merchants guide you through a chaotic world of tricksters, tumblers and twirlers and other rare gems of the finest quality in the grand Circus Bazaar. But be warned, with a surprise around every corner, you may get more than you bargained for. Presented by Dislocate, one of Australia’s leading physical theatre companies who specialise in aerial acrobatics and the physically intricate. The Circus Bazaar will feature a selection of Australia’s strongest circus talents in a special one off cabaret event. Saturday 12 July 6.30pm Adult $26. Concession/Jarmbi $22

All Hands on Deck A contemporary circus cabaret from the freshest Ruccis talent! During ‘All Hands on Deck’ the Ruccis circus crew will show off what they have learnt about all the behind the scenes (and on the stage) work that helps make the theatre magical. Let them rip your ticket, light your stage and start the music so you can sit back and relax and enjoy an evening of beauty, danger, elegance and some downright silliness. Our student performers will invite you to share in their passion for the circus arts as they put on an entertaining circus cabaret performance not to be missed. Thanks to a Yarra Ranges festival grant and Burrinja Cultural Centre, Ruccis have had the opportunity to run a mentorship program that allows members of Ruccis to learn the ins and outs of managing a large scale production.
