Celebrating the Heart of Burnie Brae: National Volunteers Week

For more than 40 years, our volunteers have been the heartbeat of our community, spreading warmth, kindness and friendship wherever they go. Whether they’re lending an ear, giving a hand or sharing their talents, they embody the spirit of generosity and service that makes Burnie Brae special.

From leading activities and workshops to providing transportation and support, our volunteers go above and beyond, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. Their dedication to fostering connections, promoting inclusivity and spreading happiness is truly inspiring, and we are profoundly grateful for the energy and enthusiasm they bring to Burnie Brae every single day.

As we celebrate National Volunteers Week this month (20 – 26 May), let us take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to every volunteer who has dedicated their time and energy to making Burnie Brae the vibrant and thriving community it is today. Your kindness, generosity and care are what make our community so vibrant, and we can’t thank you enough for all you do for our members, clients and staff.

This year’s theme, “Give a little. Change a lot,” perfectly encapsulates the impact of our volunteers, whose small acts of kindness ripple out to create meaningful change for everyone around them. So, here’s to our amazing volunteers—thank you for everything you do, today and every day.

Revolutionising Care Services

We recently announced the introduction of our new client management system, AlayaCare.

Our Care Service Teams have been busy testing, training and refining the system to ensure that it meets the high standards of quality and reliability that our organisation is known for. Their firsthand experience and feedback have been invaluable in shaping the final product and ensuring that it aligns with the needs and expectations of both our caregivers and the individuals receiving care.

With AlayaCare as our foundation, we are better equipped to adapt to the ever-evolving demands of the healthcare landscape and continue delivering exceptional care experiences to our clients.

Advisory Committee –Have your Say!

Our first Consumer Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for mid to late May. We’re grateful for the interest from those who’ve joined the initial committee. This group will meet quarterly to offer feedback and suggestions directly to the Burnie Brae Board. Your involvement is crucial in shaping our organisation’s future.

If you’d like to participate, please contact Head of Care Services, Aynsley Johnson at aynsleyj@burniebrae.org.au or on 3624 2121.

Driving Change

Our Field Support Workers have been hitting the road in their personal vehicles to assist clients in the community!

This innovative approach aims to streamline operations by reducing travel time and administrative tasks, all while ensuring top-notch safety standards.

We're keen to hear feedback from clients who have participated in this exciting trial.

Public Holiday

Burnie Brae is closed on Monday 6 May for Labour Day Public Holiday. If you have any questions, please contact us on 3624 2121.
