Nathon Dean Bauer, Sr.

Nathon Dean Bauer, Sr., 24, of Webster passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The funeral service was held Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the St. Croix Tribal Center in Hertel, with David “Maabiin” Merrill officiating. Interment was at Sand Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Decorah, Jacob Weaver, Preston Decorah, Vincent Barr, Jeremy Lambert and Jason Weaver. Honorary Pallbearers were William Barr III, John Bearhart, Mitchell La Sarge, Casey Burkhardt, Gage Lindemann and Joseph Mulroy. Nathon was born on June 6, 1992 in Spooner. He attended Siren High School. Nathon enjoyed spending time on the lake, swimming and fishing. He was mechanically inclined and would work on just about anything with an engine, sometimes taking things apart just so he could put them back together again. Above all else, Nathon liked spending time with his sons, whom he loved very much. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Nathon is survived by his mother, Christine “Tina” Morrison; brother, Kyle Bauer; two sons, Nathon Bauer, Jr. and Devon Bauer; grandmother, Maryann Morrison; aunts Vanessa Morrison Barr, Lisa Burkhardt and Leslie Billy; uncle, Vernon Morrison; grand uncle, Danny Taylor; great-grand aunts, Frances Decorah and Bev Oustigoff; many cousins, friends and other relatives. Clifford O. Reed, 77, of Webster died on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home of Webster, with Pastor Andy Bollant officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered after the service, with burial at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Spooner. Clifford was born on August 21, 1939, in St. Paul, the son of John O. and Esther (Wegner) Reed. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. On June 6, 1964, he married his true love, Lynne Phernetton. Clifford worked in law enforcement more than 30 years, working for the city of St. Paul and the city of Renville, Minn. Survived by wife of 52 years, Lynne; daughter Paulene (Dale) Engebretson; son Brian Reed; son-in-law Robert Skradde; sister Barb (Gary) Anderson, and brother-in-law Ron Phernetton. He was also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Skradde, and his parents. Duane Edward Catt, 77, of Webster, died on Thursday, December 22, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family at his home. The funeral service was held Wednesday, December 28 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, with Pastor Dan Profitt officiating. Full military honors at the funeral home concluded the service. Interment was at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner. Duane was born on February 20, 1939 to Anna (Norrish) and John “Jack” Catt in Durand. He attended Eau Claire Senior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Duane married and had four children. They divorced after 25 years. Duane graduated in 1966 from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a degree in agriculture. He worked as a loan officer for the Clark County Farmers Home Administration in Neilsville from 1966 to 1970, then transferred to Ellsworth as the Pierce County Supervisor. In 1974, Duane purchased Yellow Lake Lodge cabins, bar and campground, which he owned until 1989. He then purchased a hobby farm, as he had farming in his blood since birth. He had a passion for animals, crop farming, gardening and canning. He married his best friend, Virginia, in 1999. Duane drove school bus for the Webster School District for 27 years and was a substitute teacher for 16 years. He was also a licensed pilot and loved to fly. Duane will be dearly missed and always remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Duane is survived by mother, Anna Cass; loving wife, Virginia Catt; son, Dean Catt (friend, Shelley Bradford); daughters, Debbie Jenson and Peggy Dufour; a half brother, Jerry Cass; foster son, Mark (Tammy) Kuechenmeister; stepson, Danny Klitzke; stepdaughter, Tammy (Shawn) Hayes; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and three nieces. Virginia Lee Erickson Virginia Lee Erickson, 60, of Webster passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016. The memorial service honoring Virginia’s life was held Monday, December 26 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, with Pastor Mike Kleven officiating. After the service, relatives and friends joined Virginia’s family at the Webster Community Center for food and fellowship. Virginia was born on March 5, 1956 in Siren, a daughter Roger E. and Mary B. (Hansen) Erickson. She was a 1974 graduate of Grantsburg High School. In addition to managing operations on the family farm, Virginia worked 18 years at North States Industries in Siren. She appreciated being outdoors, and hunting and fishing. She was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Virginia was a very family-oriented person and loved spending time with her son and her grandchildren. She had a special relationship with the kids from the neighborhood, whom she called her “adopted” children. Virginia had great resolve and inner strength that she demonstrated every day, and especially during times of hardship and adversity. Virginia is survived by a son, Travis D. (Crystal) Erickson, Sr.; grandchildren: Summer Storm Erickson, Diamond Rose Erickson, and Travis Donald Erickson, Jr.; brothers, Donald (Bea) Erickson and Gary (Rhonda) Erickson; sisters, Edith Manthie and Linda Baum (Robert Pardun); and nieces and nephews. Steven J. Erickson Steven J. Erickson, 57, a resident of Wyoming, Minn., died December 21, 2016. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 30 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home of Grantsburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31 at Faith Lutheran Church of Grantsburg, with visitation one hour before the service at the church. Janis Kopp
Janis Carol Kopp, 59, died December 19, 2016 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of Janis’ life was held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at First Covenant Church of River Falls, with interment at Union Cemetery in rural Luck. Janis Carol Kopp was born on December 28, 1956 to Byron and Shirley Kopp in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Grantsburg High School in Grantsburg in 1975. She graduated from University of Wisconsin in River Falls with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1981. Janis was in college when her mother told her to come home on the weekends to meet the nice guy who was attending their church. That nice guy, John Charles Blackford, became her husband on June 14, 1980. Janis attended church at The River in River Falls and was loved by her amazing church family. Janis fought a long battle with cancer that ended with lung infections and septic shock. Funeral attendees wore festive colors to celebrate Janis’ life. Survivors include four children: Jeremy Blackford (Becca Urmann), Jeffrey (Lisa Blackford), Jason (Jessica Blackford), and Joy Jewell (Josh Jewell); and seven grandchildren: Sam, Jake, Kaitlyn, Henry, Micah, Caleb and Eva. Bakken-Young Funeral Home of River Falls assisted with arrangements.
