Officials hear from public on meth and addiction JONATHAN RICHIE SENTINEL EDITOR
A conversation that began with nuisance property transformed into how to help the issue of addiction in the community. The Grantsburg Public Library was packed to standing-room only
status for a listening session on the effects of methamphetamine use on the community. It began with concerned citizens bringing up a property in the village they had concerns about being a suspected drug house. However, the conversation quickly transformed into how to
get more resources into the county for addicts and the overall effect of addiction on a small community. The entire Grantsburg Village Board sat in the front of the packed community room along with local and state officials. Among those JONATHAN RICHIE | SENTINEL

They also have special locks on them because as one worker put it, “I’ve seen dogs open up these doors without issue after a while.” The dog side of the building also has special epoxy floor that allows staff to power wash the floor for
Last year’s Gandy Dancer Fly-in brought in almost 4,000 people to the Burnett County Airport. This year’s fly-in, held on July 20, organizers hope to have even more. Fly-In coordinator Dave Basten sat down with the Sentinel to give an overview of what to expect this year. The day will start with the Ag Club wild rice pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. The Lions Club will be selling brats at the fly-in and there will also be tacos and sandwiches available for purchase later in the day. Then the planes start coming in. Pilots will be arriving the week leading up to the fly-in, but Basten has planned a number of special fly-in attendees before the airshow starts at noon. Some of those specialty planes are the T6 - a World War II plane, the Skyraider - a plane used in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Basten said the Skyraider has a large engine that is sure to produce a lot of noise. Another big draw is the Howard planes. These aircrafts were built in the 1930s and 1940s. “They are big, loud and just beautiful planes,” Basten said. He promised that the F16 flyover is going to be special. After the flyover there will be sky divers and

All four-legged friends successfully moved in JONATHAN RICHIE SENTINEL EDITOR
The Humane Society of Burnett County has officially moved from Midtown Road to County Road D. The new facility was full of community members stopping by to check out where the county’s four-footed friends will now reside. The Peggy Schilling Animal Adoption and Education Center held their grand opening on Sun-
day. It has almost twice as much space as their former location. Meaning they have the ability to take in many more stray, stranded or abandoned dogs or cats. Hugh Schilling arrived on Sunday to great fanfare. Schilling was a major donor to the project and had a giant smile on his face as he walked into the new facility. The kennels have special doors between them that can open to
