ADULT LEARN TO CURL PROGRAM Fall 2018 PROGRAM GOAL:

To provide an introductory session to curling to cover all the basics for each student. On and off-ice instruction will include delivery, brushing, rules, practice routine, etiquette and safety. Basic strategy along with developing teamwork skills with be covered. On completion of the course, the student will have a good understanding of the game and be prepared to take part in a curling league environment.

SESSION 1— September 27th at 7:00pm-8:30pm — Off–Ice — program format review including...

• Stretching before you play • The game; equipment, scoring, rules, social etiquette, player descriptions/responsibilities • Brushing- basics, rules, positioning

SESSION 2 — Saturday, October 1st at 7:00pm-8:30pm • Off-Ice - pre-ice stretching, rules and strategy and terms, skip signals • On-Ice - delivery - intro skills working on balance, line of delivery • Brushing - brushing mechanics, team positioning on the ice

SESSION 3 — Saturday, October 6th at 9:00am-10:30am • Off-Ice - stretching, team strategy and communication • On-Ice - delivery- weight control • Brushing - communication and technique

SESSION 4 — Monday, October 8th at Noon-2:30pm • Off-Ice-stretching and On-Ice warm-up • Review of basics and discuss practice habits and game situations on the ice • Included – Instruction Booklet covering course material
