Smoothies and Service Key Clubbers host Cold Sale

On Aug. 16, the Key Club members hosted a cold sale at Burleson High School’s annual Meet the Elks. What is a cold sale you might ask? Nithure Rema describes it “well it’s like a bake sale, but you sell cold stuff, so it’s a cold sale.” At this cold sale we sold smoothies, frozen pickle juice, and red “elk” pickles. The Key Clubbers were stationed next to the BHS Swim team’s booth which sold cotton candy. The Swim team parents were so kind as to tell their customers to let their friends know where they can get both cotton candy and smoothies.

Critical Changes During our August board meeting the Key Club officers did something that was well overdue, they edited our club bylaws. Bylaws are a set of rules that the club follows, mostly demonstrated to the club through the leadership of our officers. They can be changed to meet the needs of each club. This will help the club to function more efficiently. Our first change was to add Historian and Webmaster to our list of official officers. Next, we added four committees, which are as follows: The Kiwanis Family Relations Committee under the leadership of Skyelar Armstrong, the Public Relations Committee under the leadership of Alie Shipman, the Social Committee under the leadership of Vanessa Castañeda, and the Membership Development Committee under the leadership of Nithure Rema. These committees cannot succeed without your help so be on the look out for opportunities to be involved in one of these committees!
