Geometry and Place Judith Duquemin
In Geometry and Place, artist Judith Duquemin draws from recent research and early childhood impressions of Bundaberg’s cane fields and rural landscapes to create paintings, drawings, digital prints and textiles. The artist’s interest in environment, geometry and mathematical code has led to extensive experimentation with irregular grids using limited colour palettes. Duquemin’s abstracted works are exhibited in Australia and internationally.

Heatwave
Gerwyn Davies Combining constructed photography and costume making, Davies’ work is an ongoing inventory of characters that are assembled, worn and staged for the camera in an expanded and performative approach to image making. Through the layering act of dress, the body is used as a platform for playful reinvention, the body slowly concealed through materials in order to gradually reveal an Other.

Out of the Allamanda Mervyn Moriarty
Affectionately known as the ‘Flying Artist’, Merv Moriarty has remained committed to teaching and creating art for more than five decades. In the early 1970’s, Bundaberg was one of the first venues for his fly in, fly out workshops, opening the way for other highly regarded tutors to visit. In turn this invigorated the practice and careers of local artists and saw the birth of the Allamanda Gallery, a cultural hub with a significant impact on local artists. Five of those artists exhibit alongside Merv in Out of the Allamanda.
