NEDA Summer League Season NEDA recently completed its Summer 2018 League season, with 16 city championship teams.

The banquet was held August 26th, at Bushwhacker’s Saloon with food plus a donated Budweiser keg. The luck of the draw tournament had 48 players entered. The team of Andrew Thompson and Desiree Spillman won the Championship over Chris Gilbert and Mike Relic.

NTS raffled off a Black Widow dart machine. Ray Smith was the lucky winner!

BULLSHOOTER REGIONAL TOUR The BullShooter Regional Tour stopped at Four Points by Sheraton, in Milwaukee, September 14-16.

The event was co-sponsored by AVS Companies, Moss Distributing and Pioneer Sales. $500 was added to the Friday Luck of the Draw in Men’s and Women’s divisions.

The big winner over the weekend was Elizabeth Tynan who captured three first place trophies. She won championships in Women’s Singles and both Women’s Doubles events with her partner Jennifer Carpenter.

Mike Maloney also did well over the weekend capturing the prestigious Pro Cricket Singles event and Pro Doubles with Don Stewart.

In Pro / Am Cricket, Ben Dersch and Randy Lee won first place.

In the mixed events, Elisha Rasor, Skyler Lapine and Mike Lapine won first place in Mixed Triples and Dan Burk and Kaylee Kuchinski won the championship in Mixed Cricket Doubles.

In the open events, Darren Ross an Eugene Mitchell won Men’s Doubles, Dennis Barth and Dan Schultz won Men’s Cricket Doubles, and Aric Bobzien won Men’s Cricket Singles.

All players that finished in the money in the main events won BullShooter Qualifying Cards to the Finals next May. Congratulations to all the winners!

It has often amazed me how many times I contact someone for Pacers Page, and though I have never met them, within minutes I feel like I am talking to an old friend. Almost instantly I could sense just how much this darter enjoys being a part of the game of darts. Let’s talk to Rhonda Mader.

Rhonda lives in Lewiston, in the northern part of Idaho with her husband Greg and sons Dylan and Karson, 17 and 13. For 25 years she has been employed by Dr. John Ritz, an Optometrist. She says, “Sometimes I can’t believe everything that has happened to a girl from a little town like Lewiston, Idaho.”

Rhonda Mader Pacer: Rhonda, I always try to find out what attracted each player to the game of darts, and I have to admit I got a kick out of your story.

Rhonda: Greg and I were dating and I really wanted to get him something special for his 21st Birthday.

He told me he wanted a dart board and I was like, are you crazy, a dartboard! He said yeah, a dartboard.

So, I ended up buying him one of those old boards that hooked up to a black and white TV. Pacer: Man, I had completely forgotten about that. I thought that

was really cutting edge technology.

These new boards just amaze me.

Rhonda: Well, we were playing at home and I have to admit that it was fun, but I still thought he was crazy for wanting a dart board for his 21st birthday. The next thing you know he wants to get on a Mixed Doubles League. I was really sure he had lost his mind (both laughing). I thought to myself, boy is this silly.

The next thing you know we were playing on a 4-person mixed team at a place called The Villa and I’m just having a great time. I really enjoyed the competition and we were making so many new friends that it was impossible not to have a good time.

I finally had to admit that Greg wasn’t crazy at all!

Pacer: He really didn’t know what he was starting when he asked for that dart board.

Rhonda: I would have to say that that is probably true. I really do think to myself, how did all of this happen to a girl from Lewiston, Idaho. It really amazes me. Greg still plays but I probably play more.

I couldn’t play nearly as much if he wasn’t behind me.

Pacer: Just what is it like being a dart player from Lewiston, Idaho.

Rhonda: Well, for one thing you’re out in the middle of nowhere. Once in awhile there is something in Boise.

In fact, I met Danny and Stacey Pace there last year. Usually the closest major tournaments are in Seattle and you’re talking six hours away. The airport in Lewiston isn’t exactly an international airport and it’s not easy to get to and it’s really costly to fly out of there. Thankfully, I’ve been with Dr. Ritz so long that I’ve got a lot of vacation. I turn a lot of Fridays and Mondays into vacation days. When you’re talking about a major tournament like the BullShooter, there goes a whole week of vacation.

Pacer: When Greg got you on that mixed team, he really didn’t know what he was getting started did he?

Rhonda: He probably wonders sometimes. Really, he has been wonderful. There are times there are tournaments that he knows I

would really like to play in and he says, “Go play, I’ve got the kids, go do your best!”

Pacer: If there is one true statement about this game, it’s that every successful darter needs the support of their friends and especially their family. It’s hard to concentrate on your game when you know people are upset at home. It seems to me you don’t have that problem. I think your husband and boys are very proud of you.

Rhonda: I feel so blessed. Greg is great and the boys brag to their friends. Lots of their friends want to play me. My oldest son Dylan can’t wait until he is 21. He has already told me, “Mom, you and I are playing mixed league when I’m 21.”

Really the game and its players are always there to help. I couldn’t begin to tell you how many fundraisers we have had to help people out. If there is a good cause, dart players will be the first ones to pitch in their time and money. It really is a dart family.

Pacer: Rhonda, let’s talk a little about your performance at BullShooter 33.

Rhonda: It was really a good exciting weekend. Ashley Zenner, Felicia Freouf, Gwen Yates and I got off to a good start Thursday night by finishing second in the women’s 4-person team event. Friday in the Top Gun, I pulled out an exciting win over Misty Bruguier.

Pacer: That was quite a match.

Misty got up 2-1 and you came back and won the last two for the championship. That had to be exciting.

Rhonda: Was I ever excited! Years ago I finished second to Liz Tynan in the Top Gun, so getting the victory was really nice.

Pacer: Tell us why your third place finish in the Women’s 301 Doubles may have been more exciting than your singles win.

Rhonda: Tom, my partner in that event was Ashley Zenner, just another girl from Lewiston. I really wanted to get into the Bull Pen so Ashley could experience the thrill of competing in it.

Pacer: The Bull Pen is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting experiences any electronic dart player can have. I can tell you from experience that the memories stay with you forever. I think it is special that you wanted to share that experience with Ashley.

Rhonda: Don’t think for one second that I wouldn’t have loved to walk out of there with another championship, but we got in the Bull Pen and got our chance, you can’t ask for more than that.

Pacer: Rhonda, before we call it quits would you like to add anything?

Rhonda: I want to thank Zane Martin, the owner of Shooter’s Sports Bar, for his hospitality and Doug Likkel, who owns C & D Music, our vendor. I guess I ought to thank you. This is just another amazing thing that has happened to a girl from Lewiston, Idaho.

Pacer: Talking to Rhonda couldn’t have been more enjoyable. She couldn’t be nicer, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t competitive. For example, on Thursday night there is a highly competitive Hard Way Out

League. Rhonda competes in this league each year as a player on a four-player women’s team. She told me, “We have never won it, but they always know we’re there.”

BULLSHOOTER REGIONAL TOUR The new BullShooter Tour started its 34th year in Florida at the Park Inn by Radison Resort & Conference Center, in Kissimmee.

Friday featured a Blind Draw with a 100% payback and $500 added to the pot. The 11 main events started on Saturday and ran through Sunday.

Veteran dart player Krissy Grimal was the big winner over the weekend taking home three first championships, in Women’s Singles, Woman’s Doubles Combo with Meradith McGee, Mixed Triples with Heath Namaka and Nick Selepec, and one second place in Mixed Cricket Doubles with Nick.

Nick Selepec and Danny Baggish won two championships each. Danny won Pro Singles and Pro/Am with Jeff Adams, and Nick won Triples and Pro Doubles with Kenny Doyle.

Staff Amusements Summer 2018 Leagues Staff Music and Amusements, located in Hanover, Pennsylvania, wrapped up yet another exciting season of dart leagues. Banquets were held at PR’s in York and O’Brien’s Paradise Cove in Abbotstown.
