Lumbermen's Club held its annual Stag Day, Nov. 7. Program started with golf at Baywood at 10 a.m., and went into high with an informal get-together at 6 p.rn. followed by dinner at 7:30 in the Veierans Memorial building. The Entertainment started at 10 p.m., after the kiddies were asleep, and included four big-time feature acts with all the accessories.
Officers of the club are William If. Rogers, presi- dent : Otho Davis. vicepresident, and O. H. Marcellus, secretary. Erik Flamer Gluits Boqrd
Erik Flamer, longtime Long Beach wholesale lumberman and head of the lumber-grade activities in the Southern California Retail Lumber Association. resigned Oct. 17 from the Board of Examiners and Appeals in Long Beach, to which he was appointed in 1948 by the then Mayor Burton Chace. Flamer served ten years and four days and for the past four years was chairman of the board but said he felt it was now time for someone else to get the chance to perform their civic duties. Mr. Flamer's resignation was accepted with regret by Long Beach City M"r1g.t J.-..1 lt.!.t..

Air Force Honors Dealer Fred Krunz For Sqnto Monicq Civic Activities
Frederick H. Kranz, general manager of Golden State Irum!e_1 Company, Santa Monica, was ielected to represent the California Air National Guard at the Chief of -Stafi's. United States Air Force, Reserve Forces Seminar. Lumber Dealer Kranz was selected because of his communitv activ- ity. He is on the board of directors of the Santa -Monica Chamber of Commerce and is State Afiairs chairman for this organization. He has been associated with many.civic actrvltres,
Mr. Kranz is a Major in the California Air National Guard and has served two tours of active duty. durine World War II and the Korean conflict. He has'b..tt r."sociated with the California Air National Guard since 1946. He is now with the 146th Fighter fnterceptor Wing as management analyst. Mr. Kranz is a graduale of Los Anqelqg High_School, UCLA, and has done graduate work at California Institute of Technoloey. His sdrvice schools include cadet, weather officer, statiiiical officer. and Air Command Staff School.
The Seminar was held November 7 at the pentagon and was concluded with a-reception for the Honorable Jimes H. Do-uglas,. secretary of the-Air Force, at the Officirs Club, Bolling Air Force Base. Mr. Kranz traveled militarv air to the Seminar. After completion of the Seminar, he r6turned to his duties with Golden State Lumber Co.

X{embers and guests of l-os Angeles HooHoo-E,tte Club No. I met tl-re evening of October 13 at the home of NIrs. Sallye Bissell (Weyerhaeuser Sales Co.) in Dowr.rey for a gala Hawaiian luau. There were 67 on hand in colorful muu-muus, dresses and skirts, !.gdecked_with leis, for the garden party. The food, fellowship and entertaiiment were excellent and the Luau goes clorvn in the memory book as one of the cltrb's special events.
_ A highlight of tl-re meetirlg was a report by Anne N{urray (Roy F'orest Proclucts Co.), one of the founders of Hoo-Hoo-Ette, on the fine progress of tl-re newest club, HooHoo-Ette Club 5, in Sacramento, Calif.
A special and most welcome guest at tl.re party was Irene Riclgeway, former lumber girl now a polio patient who, although para- lyzed from the neck <lorvn, taughi herself to pair.rt by holding the brush in her teeth and now creates exquisite Christmas cards and beautiful paintings. Miss Ridgeu'ay has appeared on TV and her artrvork is so widely accepted that she l.ras become self supporting. The local club has helpe<l sponsor the artist and her life has been ari it-rspiration to the club.

Bernie Faber is returnirrg to the local scene for International Lumber & plylr.,ood Co., Inglewood, Calif., after l.raving set uo the company's brarrch operation irr-Fresno, reports President Harry A. Perry. Faber is taking. over from Irv lierger, wlio plans to be active in anotl.rer line oT endeavor. perrv said the firm is pleased to welcome Faber back into the LoJ Angeles territory because his long experience in building materials gives International the finest kind of sales representation and also insures the company's trade the utmost in service.
President Perry saicl the local lumber ancl pllwood industry shifts into the last quarter of the year with the prospect of running at !!l _sp-eea right through into the new year. He believes the business signposts point to another good year for everybne in 1959.
