R. Stanley Dollar, president of The Robert l)ollar Co., announced October D, in San Francisco, the election of Thoriras H. Mehl, Jr., to the post of vice president of The Robert Dollar Co. in charge of mill and logging operations at Glendale, Oregon.

In making the announcement Dollar commented on compay policy: "Since the settlement of the Dollar Line case last Fall we have been constantly expanding the lumber operations of The Robert Dollar Co.

"My father began his career as a woodsman and had a growing lumber business when, as a young bo1-, I went to work for him. The shipping business grerv out of our need for ships to transport the lumber to market. Tllen the tirue came when the operation of The Dollar Steamship Line superseded our lumber interests.

"The cycle has now completed its swing and once again lumber is our main industry. At present 1\'e are cutting five million feet monthly in the mill at Glendale, Oregon."

As a 17-year-old boy Thomas H. Mehl, Jr. u'ent to t:ork for The Robert Dollar Co. cutting down trees in the Oregon woods. His next job was logging boss and assistant snperintendent of company operations at Mabel. Oregon.

In 1945 when the company bought the mill at Glendale, N{ehl became the logging division superintendent, the position from which he was elevated u'ith his election as rrice president in charge of mill and logging operations.
