In 1922 when Nate ltarsons came to Los Angeles, one of the first things he did was to check into our of6ce and give us a subscription to The California Lumber N{erchant. He has been a reader of the Merchant ever since, and recently gave us a nice testimonial, saying: "Long may she wave ! I'm pleased to insttre another year of good lumlter reading and humor."
Nate was born in \\-innebago, Illinois. He operated thc Parsons Lumber Co. at ltockford, Illinois, from 1897 to 1922. He still has in his files some of the Parsons Lttmber Co. pencils that he usecl for advertising purposes rvhich carry the slogan, "Parsons Delivers Good Lumber."
Nate sold out his lumber interests in Rockford in 19'22 and came to Los Angeles. He managed the C. Ganahl Lumber Co. yard o11 :\\'alon Blvd. for five years, then hc rvent into the l.rardu'oocl flooring and lumber business in Pasadena for himself. I-ater he lvas nith the Standar<l
The Mcrhogqny Book
The Mahoganl- Book,'in its eighth edition, is just off the press and is non. available to all elements concerned with the woodworking industry. Its size remains the sane as in previous editions. Heretofore the covers have been a reproduction of Nlahogarry, each edition in a distinctive pattern. The cover of the nerv edition shows tl,velve diferent finishes on mahogany, from light to dark. These illustrate the u'ide range of finishes that are possible on mahoganv, to meet modern r-reeds.

He is an old-time lLro-Hoo, No. V),212, joining thc Order in Chicago, February l(t, 1916. He is an active rnember of the Los Angeles Hoo-Hoo Club and selrlom misses a meeting of the Old Black Cats.
Mr. and X{rs. Parsons make tlieir hrtme in Pasadena. l'hey have a son, Vincent, ll.ho is l-ith the C--olumltia Rroadcasting System and operates their FN{ Station on flt. \\/ilsol'l. They have trvo granclchildren, Bob and Ann \'Iarie, 16-year olcl tu'ins.
The :rbove covers some of the highligltts of Nate Parsons' 55 years in the lunrber business. Nate is a grand fellow, has a kindly and friendly disposition, and his friencls in the Southern California lumber industrv are legion.
