Isaac Loeppke. owner of the Heaton Lumber Company at Heaton, North Dakota, has been arvarded a check for $50 by the Portland Shingle Companl', Portland, Oregon, for a suggestion submitted in the company's regular monthly "idea" contest.

Loeppke's winning "idea" for the January contest rvas that shingles be marked with a "weather line" fir'e inches up from the butt to assist the installer in keeping' rows properly spaced and to insure uniform installation. He indicated that his "idea" would be especially valuable to farmers and to individuals who do their orvn shingling.

The Portland Shingle Company ar'vards a $50 check each month to the individual submitting the most rvorthrvhile suggestion for improving manufacturing methods and rvorking conditions of the cedar shingle and shake industry, marketing, advertising, or utilization of its products, or developing new uses for Western red cedar and rvaste products. Suggestions are u'elcomed from company ernplol'ees, rvholesalers, dealers, and users of the company's products, according to Alfred H. Schmidt, president of the firm.

Entries for the regular monthly contest have been received from all parts of the nation, and company officials urge individuals to continue submitting "ideas." Judging is based solely on merit and practicability, ofificials indicate,
