/l rrENonNCE was way up at flour 84th Annual Mountain States Lumber Dealers Convention. 468 people registered. This is more than a 50% increase over the past several years. Again, thanks to Howard and Bobbie Anderson whose intense interest and work in planning the convention really paid off.
It was such a success that the board of directors have decided to have the 1978 convention in Denver again, exact time and location to be decided later.
Hieruight speech of the convention was by John Walker of Lowe's Com. panies, Inc. He really laid it on the line. Even though he is a large lumber dealer (doing $2.6 million per day) he related and communicated with every lumber dealer in the audience. He has had every problem they have ever had and then some, many times. He has developed a tremendous bank of experience in profitable management of a retail lumber business. All who heard him appreciate his willingness to come and share his ideas with us. Copies of his speech will be available from the association, office.
New president of the association is Mike Lehan of Weld County Lumber Co., P.O. Box 218, La Salle, Co. 80645.

Lee received a plaque in recognition of his fine service on the board along with retiring board members Howard Anderson, Bill Pengelly, and Ted Johnson.
