Dear Dave:

I enjoyed the article on the ToP Ten (The M erchant. Sept.) However, on page 9, the last two charts the top one is for "North American Lumber Production" which was easy to understand, what about the last chart? Is that "South American Production", tequila bottling plants, the number of comPanies You hcouired so vou could move to the beach or, maybe, Canadian production?

Shame, shame

You got us on that one, old buddy. Despite the cliche to blame it on the printer, we can tell you with a straight face that they masked ouer the line on the negatiue that said: "UNITED STATES LUMBER PRODUCTION", thus the confusion. Tequila plants, indeed; we can sure tell where your thoughts are.-ed.

Dear Sirs:

We have a library patron who wants to know if there is any "government office or orivate business that sells and/or collects salvaged and used lumber for resale."

We have not been able to find anything other than telephone Yellow Page listings under "lumber-used." Are you aware of other possibilities?

Any help or direction you might give will be appreciated. Thank you.

Si ncerely,

Western Forestry Museums

Editor:

In the Aueust issue of The Merchant,l noticed a liitine of museums in the l3 Western states.-You asked for more information on other museum locations in the article and it is in response to that request that I am writing.

Georgia-Pacific Corp., through it's Historical Museum. is now in the finishing stages of printing a booklet listine all of these as well as forestry centels, demonstration forests etc. The booklet will be a guide to all such places in the United Staies and British Columbia.

We have been working quite closelY with the Forest History Society in this proiect and perhaps your partial list was in ilutsro*th of dur-ioint'effort. We are indeed-glad that the industry seems to be taking a greater interest in their history as oflatel We appreciate your efforts in this respect.

ARE UGLY old bags your idea of a bookkeeper? Better lorget that notion and take a look at Betty J. Barker, CPA, who has been promoted to accounting manager, Newark distribution yard, American Forest Products, according to Tim Thompson, Newark gen. manager. Previously at corporate hq. in San Francisco, she is now responsible for all accounting activities and practices relating to the Newark operations.
