RIS Annual Meeting

The Redwood Inspection Service held its 14th annual membership meeting recently in Eureka, Ca., and elected directors for the coming year.

Elected were: Harvey M. Carroll, Jr., Schmidbauer Lumber Co.; Douglas W. Clayton, Cal-Pacific Mfg. Co.; Denny R. Hess, Simonson Lumber Co.; Robert B. Hoover, The Pacific Lumber Co.; Leo S. Hulett, Harwood Products Co.; Mel S. Johnson, GeorgiaPacific; Byron B. Miller, Arcata Redwood Co.; James R. Perry, Simpson Timber Co.; Jack H. Razzeto, Louisiana-Pacific; and Darrell H. Schroeder, Miller Redwood.

RIS establishes uniform grades for redwood lumber in accordance with softwood lumber standards issued by the Department of Commerce. It also supervises grading of redwood and other western species at member companies involving some 33 operations with an annual production of more than one billion board feet.
