The surrounding area comprises a vast wilderness of almost 200 thousand acres. lt is one of the most popular deer hunting spots in the entire State. Twenty-two miles to the south in Sloat, California, one of three Nikkel sawmills in the Plumas National Forest convert this high' quality timber into some of the world's finest softwood products.
