Justin Y. Shimada, associate dean, School of Business Administration, Portland State University, Portland, Or., briefed the group on the inner workings of the Japanese Management system. He analyzed the administrative processes and personnel and labor relations policies as well as techniques and philosophies of manufacturing unique to the system. He also detailed ways of increasing worker productivity and product quality including diagnostic techniques, productivity and quality measurement and the application of these Japanese concepts.

Bardell Bailey and Jim Jones returned for a second time to discuss the effects of tax equity and fiscal responsibility. Round table discussions and committee reports were part of the business agenda which included the election of officers.

Loren G. Forrister, vice president and assistant general manager of Forest Products Co., Albuquerque, N.M., was elected president.

Vice president last year, he succeeds Gary D. Moore, Cascade Wood Products, White City, Or., who will serve on the board of directors as immediate past president.

Other officers for 1984 are: Theodore R. Allen, Mt. Thylor Millwork, Inc., Milan, N.M., vice president, and Earl J. Moore, Corning Moulding Corp., Corning, Ca., treasurer.

New members of the board of directors include: Robert Donnelly, Contact Lumber Co., Portland, Or.; John Kirkpatrick, American Forest Products Co., Stockton, Ca.; Joe Shipman, Navajo Forest Products Industries, Navajo, N.M., and John Wall, Semans Moulding Co., Sacramento, Ca.

Board members retaining their seats from 1983 are: Timothy Drury, Louisiana-Pacific Corp., Red Bluff, Ca.; Robert Gonsalves, Western Moulding Co., Inc., Snowflake, Az.; Kieran Madden, Ponderosa Mouldings, Inc., Redmond, Or.; J.D.
