FD BANKER. ehairman of the test house .U commiltee has annourrced that the first cycle of the Heating and Air Conditioning Study, sponsored by the association and being conducted at Arizona State Univer. sity Experiment Farm, was cut ofi on March 31, and that a new series of tests began early this month. after modifi<'ations were made in the block structure.

The wood frame buildine will not be modified. since it is typical construction {or a wood frame house. The block buildi.g will be modified and comparative tests will be run in foul r:vtles in the two structures.

The modifications are:

(1) Sheetrock will be removed from the block walls and test conducted on exposed block interior walls.

(2) Vermiculite removed from block walls and test conducted on uninsulated block walls.

(3) 3/e" plywood siding applied to block exterior walls. Test conducted on siding applied to block walls.

(.4) t7o" interior paneling applied to interior block walls. Test conducted on interior pant'ling applied to block walls.

The committee has been meeting regularly, studying man). facets of the tests and are in the process of securing a public relations firm to publicize all phases of the project.

In another activity of our association, Ruy Wells, chairman of the education committee has been forrnulatine an education program and he is reporting at the spring board meeting being held in Tucson.

Boise Yqrd Sold

One of Boise, Idaho's long established businesses, McCaslin Lumber and Fuel Co., has been bought by Thriftway Lumber Co., owners of the two firms have announced.

Walter K. Laursen, owner oI Thriftway, said his Garden City firm will move its inventory to the McCaslin yard where it will consolidate operations.

The consolidated operation will be called Thriftway Lumber Co. and the Garden City facility will be closed.
