European-Styled Dishwasher

The Monterey, which has been added to KitchenAid's current dishwasher line,is specifically designed to complement the European-styled cabinets being used in today's new and remodeled kitchens.

Styled to provide a sleek contemporary look, it offers a triple filtration system with patented soil collector and a stainless steel hard food disposer which reportedly removes food from the water so it cannot be washed back onto the dishware. The special water heating system is said to assure water hot enough to cut through fats and tough food soils, even if the incoming water is as low as 120 degrees F.

Other features include a high capacity wash pump with a 4-way wash arm and middle wash arm to deliver strong up-and-down cleaning action as well as adjustable racks, dividers and energy saving drying options.

Cedar Look A-Like Shingle

A wood fiber roofing product from Masonite Corp. is said to be almost indistinguishable from the real thing with a heavily textured surface which is said to weather in color like cedar.

Made from natural wood fibers compressed under extreme pressure and molded into 12 " x 48" shingles, Woodruf is said to have all the advantages of natural wood, while eliminating many of the drawbacks.

Because the product is 5090 denser than natural wood, it is able to withstand extreme temperature, hail and high winds. Backed by a longterm limited warranty, its performance lifetime is reportedly as good or better than most standard and dimensional fiberglass and organic shingles.

Sure-Flo is designed for use as a leveling and smoothing layer prior to application of indoor floor coverings on cast-in-place and pre{ast concrete floors. Useful for retrofit of old concrete, quarry tile, terrazzo, and wood floors, it can also be applied over cut back adhesive.

Mixed with water, the quick-setting product reportedly can be pumped. Other advantages are said to include no sanding, grinding, curing nor latex milk needed. A texture gun and hopper is new from the Kraft Tool Co.

The new unit is said to apply a variety of materials and finishes. A "builtin angle" design feature reportedly eliminates the need for additional gun-to-hopper fittings for ceiling work. The compressor unit is equipped with a I HP capacitor-start electric motor and is rated at 6.2 CFM at 25 PSI. Replacement parts are available.

An herbs and spices collection of decorative tiles for the kitchen, pantry or breakfast nook has been introduced by Summitville Tiles, Inc.

Hand decorated with subtle colors, the collection of l2 different tiles features designs of basil, borage, caraway, chives, dill, marjoram, mint, oregano, rosemary, saffron, sage and tansy.

Designer Paneling

The Gloria Vanderbilt Collection of decorative prints and matching woodgrain reproductions on plywood by Champion International Corp. is said to be the first wall paneling line to carry a fashion designer name.

A new hardboard siding, Twin Ridge, also is new from Champion for 1985. A self-aligning, deeply textured plank, it is designed to create chevron and herringbone patterns as well as for use in vertical and horizontal applications.

Kasco Insulation is a new insulation, reportedly with no formaldehyde, no polyurethane, no odor, no settling, no after expansion, no polystyrene, no asbestos and no glass fibers.

The material is said to be comPatible with virtually any residential building material and quicklY and easily installed.

Reportedly with a flame spread of 5 zero fuel contribution; zero smoke developed, its other characteristics include excellent thermal qualities. When installed in wall partition cavities, it reduces the resonance vibration of normal interior finishes.

New plaster veneers developed by United States Gypsum Co. reportedly offer the look, feel and sound of a plaster wall without the cost.

The Diamond Interior Finish One-Coat Veneer is recommended for interior wall and ceiline surfaces in all types of constructi6n, while the Imperial Veneer Plaster System uses one or two coats to provide the slightly harder wall surface needed in high traffic areas.

The systems can be installed by a contractor in one or two coats, each l/16 of an inch thick, applied directly over gypsum baseboard. The veneer is said to coat effectively, preventing "nail pops," and minimizing ridges.

TelStrobe reportedly connects to any standard modular jack and can replace annoying ringers and electronic warbles. The 8,000 candlepower strobe is said to flash brightly once every ring cycle to indicate an incoming call. Its uses include overcoming noise, remote signaling, distinguishing between two phone lines and alerting the hearing impaired.

For consumers with telephone answering machines, the Modular Switch can be used to switch between phone and answering machine, while those with personal computers and modems can switch the incoming telephone line between phone and modem.
