DiGiorgio Buys Meqdow Volley

The DiGiorgio Corp. has purchased the Meadow Valley Lumber Co. of Quincy, Calif.. for $3 million cash, Robert DiGiorgio, president, has announced.

Meadow Valley is a large supplier of pine and white fir and has an annual capacity of 50 million bf. Other DiGiorgio lumber firms are Klamath Lumber Co., Klamath Falls, Ore., and Feather River Lumber Co., Reno, Nev. Total combined production will now exceed 200 million bf. per year.

The Quincy mill of Meadow Valley will be operated by J. Kenneth Metzker, president. and Vern Lindgren, general manager, of the Feather River Lumber Co.

Also included in the acquisition is the Quincv Railroad Co.

Nqtionol Home lmprovement Month

A cooperative industry efiort is getting up steam to remind home owners that "it's home improvement time". Ihe program will culminate in the observance of May as Home Improvement Month.

Thousands of builder-remodelers, and lumber and materials dealers, are now equipped to plan their individual promotional activity as part of the national program. 'fhe Home Improvement Coordinating Committee has distributed 83,700 copies of "Guide Line lor Prolit," a catalog to assist the promotional and advertising programs of builders and dealers.

Other sponsoring groups are the National Homt, Improvement Council, National Lumber and tsuilding llaterial Dealers Association. NERSICA, Inc.-National Remodelers Association and the National Association of Home Builders.

Thirtl.-tu'o national manufacturers of building products and cooperating tradt-. associations are co-sponsors of the national Program.
