Morgon Found Not Guilty in Gun Deoth of Jim Frutchey

Arthur Virgil Morgan, 65, has been ac. quitted of the murder of his son-inJaw, lumberman James G. Frutchey, following the introduction of the alleged confession of Morgan's wife, which was termed "completely incredulous" by presiding judge Allen Miller.

Frutchey, manager of the Los-Cal Lumber Co. in Los Angeles, Calif., was shot four times through the chest and back in the yard of his $75,000 Rolling Hills home at two a.m., July 2, 1967, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram thai reported the story. Billy Lee McHenrR 41, who accompanied Morgan to Frutchey's home was found not guilty of the murder charge for reason of insufficient evidence. Dep. Dist. Atty. Robert Burnett said he knew of no plans to prosecute Mrs. Morgan on the basis of her staternent.

During the trial Morgan admitted had gone to the home with a revolver the waistband of his trousers. Morsan said that Frutchey met him at the b"ack gun with shot he in door, grabbed the started to beat him fight, Frutchey was paper said.

Mrs. Morgan's confession told of finding a gun on the floor of the family room and o[ her "pointing the gun at Jim Frutchey. and hearing the explosions.', She did not say she fired the gun.

Pressure Process Instolled

The new pressure process using water repellent Penta for treating lumber, millwork, fencing, boxes and other wood products has been installed by Selma Grape Stake Yard & Pressure Treatins Co. It is the first time this process has be-en used in Calif. The firm is in Selma.

H. A. Dyer, who last surnmer sold his lumber yard in South Salem, Oregon, has had the inventory, valued at $30,000, returned following a court judgment that confirmed his contention that the sale terms were not being fulfilled.
