Weyerhaeuser ln Houston

Weyerhaeuser's Building Materials Distribution Business has expanded into the Houston, Tx., market, opening a distribution center last month.

Jim Precht, former general nuurager of Weyerbaeuser's Oklahoma City, Ok., and Springdale, Ar., DCs, will rumage the 5.6 acre facility. The new location will provide in-market inventories for just-in-time deliveries.

Chains Update Key Services

Computerized key cutting is becoming a trend in larger home centers with microprocessor control duplication systems in use in 894 of 2508 stores in 26 home center chains, according to Axxess Technologies.

Builders Square, Channel, Grossman's, HomeBase, Home Quarters, Payless Cashways, Pergament, National Home Centers and Sutherland's reportedly have key duplication centers in each unit. Home Depot, BMC West and Hechinger are conducting pilot tests.
