Florida Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association will hold its 67th annual convention and buying show, Sept. 24-26 at the Marriott World Center in Orlando, according to Patricia Anderson, interim executive director.
Virginia Building Material Association's convention kickoff on Monday, April 13, at The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, W.V., will be "Breakfast With Churchill."
James C. Humes. who won the Pulitzer Prize for his biography "Churchill: Speaker of the Century," will present the program. A speech writer for four U.S. presidents, a lawyer, a consultant for major corporations, a legislator, an actor and a lecturer, he has been reviewed as "not only an authority on Churchill-he is Churchill."
The convention, which opens on
April l2 and closes on April 1,5, will include a variety of informative and educational programs including Lloyd G. Taylor ll, Commonwealth Financial Group, discussing management, ownership and succession planning. Dealer/associate roundtables will cover credit management, security, employee compensation, material handling equipment and special order procedures.
Athletic tournaments and social events including the president's reception will round out the convention activities.
Tennessee Building Material Association has installed David McClain, Shapard Lumber Co., Columbia, as president.
Vice chairman/chairman-elect will be Ab Taylor, City Lumber Co., Jackson. Vice chairmen include Tom Henderson.
Schevenell Ready Mix Concrete, Germantownt Bob Witt, Witt Building Material Co., Knoxville; Bob Mayfield, Forcum-Lannom Materials, Dyersburg, and Roy Lambert, Lambert Lumber Co., Lewisburg.
Secretary-treasurer will be Tom Stephens Jr., Stephens Millwork & Lumber Co., Nashville. F-rank Kinser, East Brainerd Lumber Co., Chattanooga, is past chairman. Young Executives president, who serves on the TBMA board of directors during his term, is Greg Davis, Crosslin Supply Co., l-'ranklin.
Grady Haynes, Haynes Brothers Lumber Co., Murfreesboro: Carl Tindell, Tindell's lnc., Knoxville, and John Phillips, Durham Building Supply, Gallatin, are national directors. Alternate national directors are Charles Rhyne, Rhyne Lumber Co., Newport, and Frank Crosslin Jr., Crosslin Supply Co., Smyrna.
