Pressure Treated Hot Line

Answers to questions about pressure treated wood for both consumers and dealers are available by calling a pressure treated lumber hot linel-800-522-WOOD.

Part of the Osmose Preferred Dealer Program, the toll-free referral service and technical line provides callers with the names of pressure treated wood dealers as well as providing the answers to technical questions for dealers, architects, builders and others.

Code and product use problems are solved by professionals who also can clear up confusion concerning preservative and fire retardant treated wood products.

The hot line program is supported with an advertising and public relations program including national tv, trade and consumer magazines as well as professional publications for architects and builders. It is expected that the program will generate thousands of inquiries.

The Osmose Preferred Dealer Program also includes merchandising aids, sales support, seminars and coop advertising.

Big Bucks ln Decks

The patio deck market, a natural for pressure treated lumber, is expected to use as much as a billion board feet of lumber this year. Statistics estimate that 2Vo of the country's 84 million households will add a deck in '84.

Treated Lumber Output Up

1983 was a record year for pressure treated lumber with the American Wood Preservers Bureau recording a 3l9o increase in waterborne lumber treatment production.

Charles Thomas, president of this quality control arm of the pressure treated wood industry, said "This is the largest single year increase in lumber treating the industry has ever seen. tt

The bureau quality marked 2.2billion board feet of lumber, representing about 7os/o of the total lumber treated.

There also were dramatic increases in the production of both pressure treated plywood and All Weather Wood Foundation.
