P.T. Lumber at World's Fair

The Curt Bean Lumber Co., Amity, Ar., has donated a shipment of No. I pressure treated dimension lumber to be used for tree planters in front of the United States Exhibit at the World's Fair. The quadrennial event opens May 12, 1984 in New Orleans, La. Koppers Co., Inc., is donating 75 sheets of exterior plywood and Weyerhaeuser Co. is donating 13,250 board feet of lumber for the same project. Robinson Lumber Co., New Orleans, is providing 1,500 board feet of pressure treated 2x8s for a walkway in the Nature Plant Exhibit, a display of Southern plant life arranged by the Forest Services.

Bean Lumber has noted an increase in their pressure treated lumber business and is currently shipping at a 50 million board foot annual rate and is considering adding a second shift, according to Tim Bean. Additionally, he said, the company has been investigating three separate sites in Texas as part of a possible expansion move.
