Redwood agencies merge

THE NIERGER of the Califomia

I Redwood Association and the Redwood Inspection Service is complete.

While this may seem new. it is actually a return to the organizational structure that was followed for many years prior to 1963. Bringing the two organizations together puts the CRA in the same form and structure as the American Plywood Association and the Western Wood Products Association.

The members of the Califomia Redwood Association and the Redwood In- spection Service had long considered the possibility and practicaliry of combining the senices of the two organizations. Such a move was viewed as desirable from the standpoint of stren-ethening cooperation within the industry and prudent with respect to the economics of the financing and administering the activities of the CRA and RIS.

The untimely death last June of Peter Johnson. secretary/general mana-ger of RIS. prompted the boards of directors of both organizations to again consider consolidation. Both boards agreed unanimousll' to merge CRA and RIS and to petition the State of California for approval. Approval was received in December.

Under the merger agrcement, the Redwood Inspection Sen'ice has become a division of the Califomia Redwood Association. but in all other respects it enjoys the same autonomy it has always had. A governing committee sets policy
