Strap Happy

A new synthetic steel strapping for binding wood, cardboard and other goods without the problems of conventional steel strapping is now available from Caristrap International.

Advantages over metal counterparts reportedly include safer, easier handling and disposall lower cost; higher energy to break; stretchability; easier installation and removal; no rusting or staining, and no need for corner protectors.

The product may be tightened with seals, buckles or a simple knot, and it may also be printed upon.

During kiln drying, the strapping will retract up to l3%r to maintain tight tension around loads. During treating of wood products it can shrink during the drying cycle and then return to its original tight form alter treatment.

Knife Burns

A lightweight hot knife with a wide spatula tip for repairing wood surfaces by melting matching lacquer sticks as filler is new from Hot Tools. The lacquer burn-in knife heats up to 300' in less than two minutes to melt sticks into scratches, burns, dents or gouges. With a pencil-thin wooden handle, the tool measures 6" long and weighs I oz.

Available with interchangeable 3/16" and 7 /16" wide spatula tiPs that simply slide on directly over the heating element, the tool's handle always remains cool to the touch.

The kits come in designer boxes with windows that can be opened to allow customers to feel and smell the cedar planks.

Kits contain planks 3-518" wide by 48" long, with some nested 16" to 32" lengths. Each piece is factory lapped top, bottom and ends for tight, uniform fit and neat appearance.

The Sorta-Neat Organizer features a full-length hinged sorting tray above five round polyethylene containers used for bulk storage of nuts, bolts. screws. etc.
