Groby Juniors triumph after penalty shoot-out Well saved, Keeper!

Horses let loose in Groby Cemetery Families who arrived at Groby cemetery to pay their respects to loved ones found horses had apparently been let loose, trampled across graves and eaten floral tributes. Visitors had to shoo the five animals away from the resting places of their loved ones. According to a report in the Leicester Mercury, Groby Parish Council said it believed the horses were let into the cemetery through a gate by travellers so they could graze, before someone locked the gate behind them so they were unable to get out. In the statement the council said this year it fenced off fields it owns in the area after it previously had problems with travellers allowing horses to roam. It is understood the horses were in the cemetery for about four hours until their owners turned up.

Don’t miss the Elizabeth Woodville Indian Summer Fair Groby Juniors Under-11s won the final of their age group at the Braunstone Trinity Football Tournament in August. The final went to a penalty shootout and the photo shows the reaction when the Groby goalkeeper made a match-winning save. “I’ve heard of Open-Plan but this is ridiculous!”

Lady Jane Grey Primary School is pleased to announce the arrival of their new mobile. It is to be the year 4 children’s classroom. The new building arrived by lorry in three parts. Watching the units being lowered into position by crane was great fun. The photo shows the middle section being manoeuvred into place. The crane operator is the man on the left, who controlled the crane by means of a control box strapped to his waist.
