REACHING OVER 3,500 BUILDING-BASED COMPANIES IN LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND EVERY MONTH
Davidsons Homes awarded 5* status by HBF
Work starts on £30m Frog Island regeneration scheme A MAJOR ROUTE into Leicester is to be visibly transformed within weeks.
DAVIDSONS HOMES has picked up the coveted five-star builder status award from the Home Builders’ Federation for the sixth year running. The announcement was made during an awards ceremony in March held in London with the aim of recognising the very best standards and promoting best practice and quality within the industry. Managing Director James Wilson (pictured above with the award), said: “We are exceptionally proud to have earned the HBF five-star award once again. To have achieved this recognition for the sixth time is a great accomplishment, especially when considering the growth of the company, particularly over the past twelve months. This is an achievement that could not have been reached without such a great team behind us. It’s not only the people at Davidsons Homes who all put 100 per cent commitment and dedication into delivering a five-star service, but also our many contractors and suppliers; this award absolutely represents the great efforts of the whole team.” The company continues to build on developments across the East Midlands and, as part of its continued expansion, has begun construction in Northamptonshire and beyond.
As reported in the Leicester Mercury, developers have moved onto various sites in Frog Island which are earmarked for major regeneration as part of the £30 million Waterside project being spearheaded by Leicester City Council. Derelict and run-down factories have been a major eyesore of the Frog Island area for years, but the council has a long-term plan that will see some 150 acres of largely unused industrial land redeveloped with 2,500 homes and offices. Phase 1 of the scheme is being carried out by Keepmoat Developments who have begun preliminary work for the transformation by building 335 homes. Leicester City Council has acquired all the land through compulsory purchase orders and the developers are on site now. Private sector development of 600 student flats on Bath Lane has been completed and the building of a further 300 apartments are about to start on the back of council investment in the area. Other major private sector developments in the area include a £50 million scheme to build two hotels and office space on the former Stibbe site of Highcross Street. That will include renovating the disused Great Central Station as as restaurants.
