Work begins on 33 new homes in Castle Donington WORK HAS begun on 33 new homes in Castle Donington. Bloor Homes was granted permission to develop a 2.6 acre site to the north of Park Lane earlier this year, and has now commenced construction work after acquiring the land. The new homes are an extension to Bloor’s existing Fairfield Manor development, and will be located to the north west of the main site. More than half of the 33 properties will be three bedroom houses, reflecting the growing demand for smaller family homes in the area. There will also be a range of one, two and four bedroom houses, with nine of the homes being provided as affordable housing. The new homes will be accessed through the existing development, which is located to the west of the village centre. As part of the new development, Bloor will make contributions of almost £40,000 to fund local services and infrastructure improvements through a Section 106 agreement with local councils. This will include £14,645.40 towards healthcare facilities at Castle Donington Surgery Medical Practice, £1,814.85 for improved facilities at local primary schools, £18,850 to provide two free bus passes for each new household, £900 towards the cost of providing real time information equipment on nearby bus routes, and £1,532.65 to provide travel packs for new residents. This funding is in addition to the £1.4 million that Bloor is already investing into the local community the Section 106 agreement for the original development.
