Yes, it really is springtime 2021 in Central Indiana! Just as winter brings out festive Christmas decorations, spring brings out Buicks and their enthusiastic owners. On Saturday, March 20th the Central Indiana Buick Club got together to think spring and enjoy collector cars. Club member Walter Habeeb made arrangements for our club to tour the Ray Skillman Collector Cars in Greenwood, Indiana. This collection includes not only Buicks, but many other marques as well. Also represented were Indy 500 race cars, USAC race cars and NASCAR vehicles. One of our favorites was the beautiful 1954 Skylark convertible with the top down. Many automotive collector items are displayed for the enjoyment of visitors. Right in the center of the display is a beautifully restored and operating turn-of-thecentury carousel.
After about two hours of visual enjoyment and remembering we dismissed to Smokey Bones BBQ Restaurant for lunch and a time of fellowship. Twenty people made it out for this delightful spring event. The Central Indiana Chapter will be hosting the 32nd Annual B.O.P.C. (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac) Car Show on June 5th at the beautiful Memorial Park in Lebanon, Indiana. At our annual January club planning meeting Jim Smith volunteered to direct our club's hosting efforts. Jim immediately began to put together a team of Buick volunteers in an effort to make 2021 the best BOPC show yet. Working with club Director Jay Hodges, Jim has been enlisting Central Indiana BCA member volunteers for registration, parking, scoring, etcetera. Other efforts required to host the four club events are proceeding well. ♦
