IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER. The 2015-16 racing season proved to be a wonderfully successful time for Westbury Stud with stakes winners across three countries and no less than nine individual stakes winners bred on the farm, while the operation provided a host of winners throughout the year.

The Gerry Harvey bred performers Sofia Rosa and Music Magnate led the way with Group 1 victories in the toughest of racing jurisdictions in Australia, Sofia Rosa taking out the ATC Australian Oaks and New Zealand Filly of the Year title, while Music Magnate became the first New Zealand bred horse to win the Doomben Ten Thousand Stakes in 22 years.

Apart from Sofia Rosa and Music Magnate, the Chris Waller-trained pair of Hursley and Telepathic were both successful at Listed level, while Imposing Lass won the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet for Bjorn Baker.

In New Zealand, Swiss Ace’s sons Passing Shot and Ichiban won three Listed races between them and Red Giant’s daughter Red Striker won the Listed Hallmark Stud Handicap at Ellerslie and was placed at Group 3 level behind Group 1 winner Sacred Star.

Red Giant’s success extended into Singapore with his daughter Lim’s Racer winning the S$350,000 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Sgp-2, while his son Nova Strike has been stakes placed twice in 2016.

With the 2015-16 year now behind us, we turn our attention to the new racing season which has already begun in spectacular fashion with three new stakes winners for the farm in Romancer, Top Prospect and Swissta. These lightly rated 3YO’s continue to emphasise our aim to prodce quality athletes at all times as we pride ourselves on rearing every horse to the highest standard possible.

May 2016-17 produce the very best of results for us both!
