I’m also a board member for AMPL, Advocates for Multi-Use of Public Lands, which works to organize public support and the creation of a unified voice to maintain and protect broad access to our public lands for motorized as well as non-motorized recreational uses in a cooperative and cohabitant manner.”

“I’m a Best Friend of the BTNF because it’s out the back door of our home in Red Top and an important part of the neighborhood. In the winter, my family and I love to snow machine, Nordic ski, and ski tour. In summer, we ride mountain bikes, e-bikes, and dirt bikes on the amazing Munger and Mosquito trail systems. Hunting, fishing, camping, and firewood harvesting are all important aspects to our living connected to the BTNF, too.”

“I’m a Best Friend of the BTNF by trying to ensure that the opportunities I have will also be available to those that come next. When fishing, I land fish quickly and release them gently. When rafting, I am respectful of other river users by avoiding casting lanes for fishing boats, giving space to kayakers, and picking up after myself. When hiking or horseback riding, I use established trails and share them with others.”

I am a Best Friend of the BTNF because the forest is where I grew up, learned to love nature, and is what shaped me as both a professional athlete and illustrator. It is the place where I first learned about wildlife and the names of trees and flowers and how to immerse myself in wild spaces with care and understanding. The BTNF is an incredibly special expanse where I go year round to adventure, explore, and seek inspiration.

It’s our responsibility to protect this wild place we are so fortunate to have access to by exploring it with awareness and recreating with care. As the Bear Wise Jackson Hole program manager I educate locals and forest users about the importance of storing food and other attractants so they are inaccessible to bears.
