Anna-Maria is a BIM coordinator and a BIM & Design Systems Lead at Foster + Partners. She studied Architecture at the University of Greenwich before completing a Masters in Architecture at Westminster University. She has worked on several BIM projects including a large UK Military Rehabilitation Complex, the DNRC in Loughborough, Lots Road Power Station, London and the Royal College of Music. She excelled at 3D digital modelling during her studies, learning Revit independently before implementing her skills at various architectural practices before joining Foster + Partners. Anna-Maria is experienced in managing BIM, helping the architectural team and collaborating with other consultants. At Foster + Partners she is currently the BIM coordinator for several complex projects, assisting the project team to design the building in Revit, using the benefits of 3D digital modelling. She is also overseeing the implementation of BIM across multiple projects in the Studio and across the wider practice.

Foster + Partners are now developing all design projects in BIM. The transition to BIM has been both challenging and rewarding for an architectural practice focused on design excellence and delivering projects which are cutting edge and globally recognised. The collaboration between the design architect and the BIM coordinator is crucial to the success of such projects. The presentation aims to demonstrate how this collaboration can produce projects of high architectural quality through close collaboration. Using a case study of a collaborative working building in Luxembourg as well as other Foster + Partners projects the presentation will demonstrate this collaboration and the iterative design process from the points of view of the architect and the BIM coordinator.
