OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH UNICEF Following the UN Sustainable Development 2030 agenda, our students work on one of 17 Unicef challenges, with themes as wide-ranging as clean energy and peace and justice. Students from Years 10-12 can even apply to go to the Global Summit in New York, with the chance to speak at the UN’s High Level Political Forum. Unlike other schools, we make the Unicef themes central to many of the students’ activities, within and outside school time. Students regularly work on outreach programmes in local communities, and share challenges, ideas and progress via our Global Campus. You can read more about this on the next page.

GLOBAL CAMPUS Global Campus is our own digital earning platform that gives every student their own personalised experience, as well as letting them connect with thousands of their Nord Anglia classmates from around the world. With special areas for students of different ages, Global Campus provides fresh and exciting learning materials on everything from science challenges from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to health and wellbeing, with advice and activities on healthy eating, weekly workouts, and yoga. CURRICULA INNOVATION We work with world leading organisations to give our students an even more enriching learning experience. To foster our students’ creativity, we collaborate with The Juilliard School to develop our music, drama, and dance programmes. Together, we have developed The Juilliard Creative Classroom, an extraordinary online collection of educational resources designed to enhance and supplement existing lessons. The programme helps students to experiment, create, improvise, and act independently – and encourages in them the resilience to keep trying. There’s a professional development programme for our teachers, too.

Our interdisciplinary approach to teaching science and technology, in collaboration with MIT, gives your child the skills they’ll need to thrive in the 21st century. These include trying out approaches to real-world problems, creative thinking, and understanding the importance of persistence in finding answers. This programme also provides professional development for teachers, an annual student visit to MIT, and a collaboration with MIT scientists to develop ‘maker spaces’ for practical activities in all our schools.

Our collaboration with Unicef is a focus for a wide range of activities that inspire our students with global challenges and resources, helping them to think practically about making a real difference. These activities develop our students’ sense of themselves as global citizens – and people who really can change the world for the better.

EXPEDITIONS THAT EXPAND HORIZONS Our expeditions are designed to broaden our students’ perspectives and expose them to different cultures, people and ideas. Your child will have access to global, regional and local opportunities – and the chance to dig deep within themselves to find resilience and develop leadership capability. At the same time, they’ll make lifelong friendships with people from all over the world. Each year, about 2000 Nord Anglia students travel to our own camp in Arusha,

Tanzania, to work on the practical tasks of building and maintaining school and village accommodation. At our centre in Les Martinets, Switzerland, students undertake a week’s mountaineering and outdoor activity in self-led teams to overcome basic challenges such as cooking and navigation. Experiences like this help to develop both self-reliance and teamwork – as well as an understanding of the lives and challenges of others.

Every student learns to use our Virtual School Experience (VSE), so there’s a smooth transition between class-based and ‘home or away’ learning. EDTECH: CREATING THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION In this world of rapid change, we’re always looking for new ways of unlocking students’ learning. That’s why we’re reimagining education as we know it by creating a teacher-led, technology-enabled school environment that will allow us to personalise the learning journey like never before. Our specific aim is to make sure students learn more quickly and perform better. We’ve put this at the heart of our education technology (‘EdTech’) strategy. To do this, we’re investing in technology that will capture data to help us better understand where each student is performing well, and where they may need more support. Our teachers will be able to use this data in real time to re-evaluate what each student is doing and redirect their focus to where support is needed most. This makes sure every student follows their best learning path – which leads to faster and more satisfying progress. And students and parents will also be able to use the data to better understand their learning.

Our EdTech strategy will redefine the learning experience as we know it. It’s classroom-based: Bringing the best of social learning to the classroom of the future, with a blend of collaborative and personalised learning.
