Gümüldür was established on the ruins of Lebedos, one of the 12 Ionia cities. Records concerning the town date back to the Hellenistic age. Even though it isn’t as developed as big cities like Teos, Klaroros and Ephesos, it made a mark with its settlements and social activities. The Asian Olympics, an Olympics resembling the Greek Olympics, were organized here. A part of the population emigrated to where Gümüldür is built today and a part moved to Ephesus when the town lost its importance during the Roman and Byzantine eras. Klaros, which was one of the most important prophecy centers in history and the region’s most important port Nation, shed light on the history of the area. You can access Klaros through a road that is surrounded by gardens on both sides. Klaros greets its visitors with Nation, the port of Colophon, the most important city in Anatolia. Although there are very few traces of Lebedos and Colophon, excavations still continue. Although the construction date of Klaros is unknown, it is believed that it was built in 7th century B.C. for Apollo, the main God of Colophon. In the sculptures room of the temple, which was built in Dorian style, there is a big Apollo
