What Your Chamber Affiliation Means to Customers

The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) has released the results of a nationwide public opinion poll conducted in conjunction with Harris Poll, that highlights the overwhelmingly positive perception of chambers, along with recognition of the impact we make in our communities. Additional data reinforces that businesses that join chambers have a stronger likelihood of positive outcomes.

Key Findings

Chambers are Trusted: 81% of U.S. adults agree that their local chamber is a trusted resource and partner for businesses. 90% feel that their local chamber has an impact on growing the local economy.

Chamber Membership Strengthens a Business’s Reputation: 64% of adults who are familiar with their local chamber are more likely to purchase goods and services for a business that they know is a member of their local chamber. 63% of these adults are more likely to recommend that business to someone else.

Chambers Serve Businesses and Communities: 76% of U.S. adults agree that local chambers are stewards of a strong local economy. 74% believe local chambers create jobs and promote local community development. 72% believe local chambers play a key role in addressing community challenges.

Business Owners See the Value: 65% of business owners see their local chamber as an advocate for initiatives and policies that are in the best interest of their business. 62% believe the chamber supports the growth and prosperity of their business.

People Want to Learn More About Their Local Chamber: 70% of U.S. adults wished they knew more about the work their local chamber does in the community. Specifically, they are most commonly interested in learning more about the type of impact local chambers have in their community (49%), more general information about chambers of commerce (43%), and which local businesses are members (42%).

James Walker Elementary Earns National Designation

The Blue Springs School District’s James Walker Elementary has been recognized as a 2024 National ESEA Distinguished School. This honor recognizes schools for making positive educational advances and achieving outstanding academic success nationwide. The State of Missouri recognizes two schools annually for this exceptional honor. To celebrate, students and staff enjoyed ice cream, and had an assembly with the Blue Springs High School Golden Regiment and cheerleaders.

Chamber Scholarships

The Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce awards four academic scholarships each year to college bound graduating seniors in each of the three Blue Springs high schools and one graduating senior from another area school district.

Applicants for all scholarships must be employed by a member of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce or have at least one parent or guardian who is employed by a Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce member business. These are one-time scholarships to be paid upon receipt of required documents.

The deadline for all applications to be submitted is Friday, February 28, 2025.

Criteria:

• Demonstrate a strong work ethic.

• Demonstrate extraordinary determination in overcoming adverse circumstances to further their educational pursuits.

• Demonstrate a commitment to community involvement.

• Demonstrate a pursuit of growth and improvement in all areas.

Ararat Shrine, established in 1888 and now located in Blue Springs, is committed to improving children’s lives through support for Shriners Children’s Hospitals, offering specialized care regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Plaza Heights Christian Academy

Since 1999, Plaza Heights Christian Academy (PHCA) has provided a Christ-centered education for students aged 2 years through 12th grade, emphasizing Biblical values, academic

excellence, and community service. A Chamber member since 2023, PHCA strengthens community ties through service projects with local churches, fosters leadership with annual service hour requirements for high schoolers, and contributes to the local economy with 50 faculty and staff. School of Economics (SOE) has empowered students with real-world learning experiences that build lifelong financial skills since 1994. A Chamber member since 2017, SOE serves over 18,000 students annually with programs like Mini-Town and SOE Market, where students run their own economies, and teen mentoring opportunities that develop leadership skills. Through partnerships with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club and YMCA, SOE extends its impact to nonprofits, homeschool families, and adults with developmental disabilities. Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Since 2012, Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) has been on a mission to ensure “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!” A Chamber member since 2018, SHP builds and delivers fully furnished beds to children in need, collaborating with over 40 agencies, churches, and hospitals. With the help of volunteers, they delivered their 3,000th bed in November 2023, providing kids with the rest they need to thrive academically, socially, and physically. Vet Biz was established in 2004 and has empowered veterans and military families to build successful small businesses that drive economic growth.
