On Monday to Friday mornings, classes cover all essential English language skills and systems such as grammar, vocabulary, reading and speaking. In addition, we train our students in the key skills required by universities and employers such as creativity, critical thinking and collaboration. Projects with digital outcomes such as podcasts and infographics are showcased on a digital portfolio, allowing you to present not only information, but also yourself to maximum effect. This gives you a competitive edge and prepares you for success in your studies and career.
Lunchtime Class (Monday-Friday) SESSION 2
Each week’s theme is linked to one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to encourage debate, discussion and global citizenship. Our lunchtime lessons provide an opportunity for fluency practice with lots of communicative activities and immersive lessons outside of the classroom.
Afternoon Classes (Monday to Thursday) SESSION 3
Those studying our intensive and semi-intensive programmes will benefit from a variety of options in the afternoon depending on their goals and preferences. Our electives include*:
Language Workshop – covering areas such as vocabulary, grammar, writing, pronunciation and more, according to the needs of the class.
Immerse and Explore – Research and prepare for an immersive lesson to a local area of interest and get to know your college city from a different perspective. Boost your confidence in a fun and interesting way, engaging with native speakers in authentic situations, and applying your newly acquired language skills in life outside the classroom.
English Skills for AI** – with support from your teacher and classmates, you will use AI tools to produce engaging, and authentic materials while completing a range of real world work and study tasks. This will not only improve your English language skills, but develop your AI skills, equipping you to succeed in the modern world.
Foundation Skills for IELTS – those who are not at the level to join our morning IELTS preparation course are able to develop skills and strategies to achieve exam success alongside their English Language Training.

IELTS students will have exam focused classes for sessions
1 & 2, using an IELTS coursebook and Skills for Academic Success. You will join the English Language Training Electives in the afternoons if you are on a 25 or 30 lesson booking.
We know that many of you have specific areas of English that you wish to improve, or particular exams you need to take to achieve your life goals. Our IELTS or OET Preparation and English Focus for Exams courses will help you progress towards exam success.

Your CELTA course at BSC will include at least 120 hours of contact between candidates and course tutors, as well as:
• Tutorial support and consultation
• Supervised lesson planning
• Six hours’ assessed teaching practice per candidate supervised by a course tutor
• Peer observation of teaching practice (i.e. watching the other candidates’ lessons)
• Six hours’ directed observation of lessons
You should also allow for 80 additional learning hours for course preparation, reading, research, assignment writing and lesson preparation.

• Educated to a level suitable for higher education or university (A levels or equivalent)

Our students tell us they make friends for life at BSC so we want to make it easy for you to keep in touch with the people you meet during your stay. You will be able to connect with other students and receive updates from our team through our BSC alumni group once you leave.

How do we do this?
1. Getting to know you and assessing your current knowledge and skills
• Before you arrive, complete a Language Knowledge Check via our online platform myBSC.
• First day language skills checks (speaking and writing) and goal setting with our friendly academic team.
• There is no pass or fail! The more we know about you, the more we can help you succeed.
• We understand and always take first day nerves into consideration.

2. Place you in the best class for your needs
• We take everything we’ve learnt about you (knowledge, skills, goals, preferences) and put you in the class that will best suit your needs.
• Excellent language knowledge, but very nervous about speaking in English? We can place you in a class to build your confidence before you join a higher level.
• Need to take IELTS, but can’t remember vocabulary and unsure about spelling and grammar? We can place you in English Language Training before transferring you to IELTS preparation when you feel ready.
• If you are unsure about the class you are placed in, you can always come and talk to us.
3. Assessing your progress
• Class tests, projects and presentations will help you and your teacher continuously assess your knowledge and skills.
• myBSC online platform has hundreds of hours of activities, level tests and practice exam material for you to become a better independent learning outside of class and better able to assess your own abilities.
4. Ongoing communication with you about your progress
• An initial goal-setting tutorial when you arrive.
• A one to one tutorial every 4 weeks with your teacher where you will discuss: -how you are feeling about your lessons, level and progress -your goals and if they have changed -what you are doing outside of class to improve your English.
5. Train you in how to be better lifelong learners
• Teachers will train you in different strategies that you can use to learn more effectively outside of the classroom.

When can I start the course?
The majority of our courses start every Monday throughout the year, please check bsceducation.com for local public holidays.
How long can I study for?
The minimum is 1 week but you can study for as long as you want – up to 1 year if you wish!
Can I do course work on my mobile phone?
No, you need to bring a laptop or tablet for certain activities which are not mobile phone compatible/adaptive.
What is the minimum age?
16 years old. Please note that there is an additional student support supplement (£15 per week) for all 16-17 year olds.
How do I book my course?
You can easily book and pay for your course online. Alternatively, you can contact us on info@bsceducation.com for a list of authorised BSC representatives in your country.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. We ask for a deposit of 20% to secure the course and accommodation if you require it. Full payment must be received in full 28 days prior to the course start date. Bookings made within 14 days of arrival must be paid in full at the time of booking.
Do I need a visa to study at your college?
Your course length, type and place of study affect which visa to apply for. Please consult the relevant Government website or check with a British Consulate or embassy in your country of residence.
How many students are there in each class?
We have a maximum of 14 students per class.
Where do the other students come from?
From all over the world! We have students from Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. Depending on the time of year, we have up to 35 different nationalities in our colleges at any one time!
Tell me about your teachers
We select our teachers very carefully. They are all professionally qualified and experienced in teaching English as a foreign language and all have many more skills that they bring with them to the classroom. Our teachers bring energy and enthusiasm to their lessons, making your language learning journey stimulating and enjoyable.
Are all course materials included?
Course materials for English Language
Training classes are available for use while studying at BSC, at no extra charge. Discounts are available for any books
purchased through BSC or partner portals. All students will have access to myBSC during their stay and for 3 months post-departure.
Do I need a laptop or tablet?
To optimise your study journey, we strongly recommend bringing your laptop or tablet for use in class and at home.
Will I receive an end of course certificate?
At the end of your course, you will receive a certificate as part of your graduation ceremony. This certificate will state the type and duration of your course, your attendance percentage as well as the level at which you studied.
Is there internet access available?
All BSC colleges and accommodation include Wi-Fi internet access.
What should I do if I need to talk to someone about any aspect of my stay? If you need to talk to us about your course, accommodation or any other aspect of your stay, please let us know as soon as possible. You will find detailed information about the complaints procedure and who to contact on our website.
Insurance. Before you arrive in the UK, we strongly recommend that you take out insurance for your own financial and personal security. You can take out your own insurance or take out the international student policy we offer which has been specifically designed for overseas students studying in the UK.
Adults and Young Learners: From £12 per week (UK) and €14 per week (Malta). Manchester City Football School: £39 per week. Organising this is extremely easy and can be done at the same time as booking your course.
