Sunflowers by Simran Savani, BSB student, Year 13 Sunflowers have been considered a symbol of joy and life, but also a symbol of loyalty and longevity. The flower radiates passion and positive energy, and turns its flowers and petals to the sun every day. The yellow shades of the sunflower, tie to happiness and a long life. The idea of the sunflower came from celebrating 50 years of BSB. The materials I used to make this piece were watercolour paints, thread and gold leaf. The background layer of the sunflower was done with watercolour paints. It was then drawn over the top with a sewing machine. And finally, I added gold leaf accents.
