the counter The counter is about supporting and cultivating community through including a rotating menu of basic, healthy meals from local Evanston restaurant businesses offered as either take-out or dine-in for customers. Having a meandering buffet-style design takes inspiration from a large family gathering or a group hang-out around someone’s kitchen counter.

about broccoli

Broccoli takes very well to quick-cooking techniques like sautéing or stir-frying. Heat a little oil in a frying pan or wok over high heat, and add cut broccoli florets and peeled, sliced rings of broccoli stalks, stirring and cooking for just 4 or 5 minutes.

storing broccoli Store your broccoli in the fridge loosely wrapped in an unsealed plastic bag. Stash the broccoli in a cold part of your refrigerator, like the crisper drawer or near the back of the fridge. Properly wrapped, broccoli can last up to a week in the fridge and maybe even a few days longer!

the fridge (mobile) The fridge (mobile) is about providing streamlined grocery access to people beyond reach of the At Home store. Food carts following the same brand values are rotated around the Evanston community to aid in combating food insecurity. Paired with this concept are community fridges placed around Evanston where companies and individuals can place what they have and take what they need.
