For more than six decades, Boca Raton Regional Hospital (BRRH) has been a vital part of the South Florida healthcare landscape. Founded in 1967 by a community galvanized by tragedy, BRRH has grown from a community hospital into a nationally recognized academic tertiary medical center. Today, as a proud member of Baptist Health South Florida, BRRH continues to deliver on its founding promise: to provide compassionate, preeminent care close to home.
Boca Regional is known for its excellence in neuroscience, oncology, cardiovascular medicine, orthopedics, and women’s health. It has earned a reputation not only for clinical outcomes but for its deep commitment to patient experience, innovation, and community partnership.
In 2018, BRRH launched the Keeping the Promise Campaign, a bold and visionary initiative to reimagine its campus and elevate its capabilities. The campaign raised nearly $300 million, supporting an astounding $1.2 Billion investment by Baptist Health to transform the way Boca Regional delivers health care in Palm Beach County. These investments and philanthropic campaign far surpass any prior efforts in the hospital’s history.

The results of this campaign are now visible across the campus:
• The new Gloria Drummond Patient Tower, an eight-story inpatient facility featuring all private patient rooms
• A Critical Care Tower with 20 state-of-the-art operating rooms and new surgical, cardiovascular, and medical ICUs
• The Toby and Leon Cooperman Medical Arts Pavilion, housing ambulatory surgery and specialty clinical space
• Expansion of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute, including stroke care, advanced imaging, and dementia services
• Expansion of the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, including a new Proton Therapy Treatment Facility
• Growth of the Christine E. Lynn Heart & Vascular Institute, with new technologies and expanded services
• A new Emergency Department in west Boca Raton
• The new Abessinio Energy Plant, powering the entire patient care campus with efficiency and resilience
• Two new parking structures and major infrastructure upgrades
This transformation has positioned BRRH to meet the evolving needs of a growing and aging population with excellence, innovation, and compassion.
As BRRH completes this historic transformation, the hospital is preparing to launch the next phase of strategic growth to meet the community’s healthcare needs. Several priority projects, with needs exceeding $300 million, require philanthropy to help bring to fruition. These projects will be anchored by the creation of a standalone patient tower on the west side of the campus, replacing the Dawson theatre. The new West Pavilion will be the home of Boca Regional’s new Maternal Services, to better meet today’s demands and maintain its role as the destination for labor and delivery in Palm Beach County. Additionally, several other high-priority initiatives are essential to fully implement the hospital’s long-term vision.

The centerpiece will be the development of a new, contemporary unit for Maternity Services, designed to meet the needs of today’s families and tomorrow’s growth. The current Unit serves thousands of families each year with dedication and skill and has been recognized with the highest possible rating in U.S. News & World Report maternity care rankings. This places Boca Regional among a select group of hospitals nationwide that provide exceptional care for expectant parents, particularly for uncomplicated births. Additionally, the much-admired Barbara C. Gutin Pre and Postpartum Program at Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute provides new parents guidance, support and care to navigate pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum.
Today, however, while BRRH delivers more babies in Palm Beach County than any other hospital, our facility is consistently at capacity and lacks the space, flow, and amenities the growing community expects in modern maternal care.
• Deliveries are expected to reach 4,000 annually by 2035, the clear provider of choice, Boca Regional is currently delivering 47% of the births in the region.
• Along with the growing number of deliveries, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) admissions are also projected to rise considerably, requiring a scalable new 20-bed Level III NICU.
• The current NICU needs to be redesigned and elevated to better serve patients with complex cases and provide additional space for better family flow, privacy, and proximity to labor and delivery rooms.
• 15 new Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR)/Antepartum rooms
• A Level III NICU with 20+ new beds, scalable to meet future demand
• 3 new Caesarean suites (C-Section)
• 34 new private post-partum rooms
• 5 new triage beds and 5 new PACU beds
• 38 additional Med/Surg beds, decanted from existing facilities
• A new parking garage with 300+ spaces
• Dedicated public spaces for families
• Administrative and educational areas for staff and training
This new West Pavilion will be four-stories with space for future growth of the Wold Family Center for Emergency Medicine as well as the hospital Imaging department on the first floor. The top floor will contain a 32-bed post-partum unit. This plan allows for optimal flow, privacy, patient comfort, and convenience. It will establish BRRH as the premier destination for maternal care in Palm Beach County.
To support this expansion, a new parking structure is required. The proposed location would be on the western-most side of the campus, between the pond and energy plant with up to 316 new parking spaces.

While the new West Pavilion is the anchor, and the new unit for Maternal Services is the centerpiece, plans also include several other high-priority initiatives:
• Development of Physician Scholars to support the newly recruited leaders’ vision for growth and research
• Expansion of services to meet demands for more complex cases
• Investments in advanced technologies for better outcomes
• Continued expansion of subspecialty programs across brain and spine health
• Expansion of dementia care and behavioral health services
• Planning for an additional outpatient neuroscience facility in Boca Raton
• Modernization and alignment of outpatient oncology services
• Investments to enhance the patient experience leading to better outcomes
• Development of Physician Scholars to support the research of physician leaders
• Development of scholars and fellowship programs in partnership with FAU
• Recruitment of orthopedic specialists
• Expansion of subspecialty clinical offerings and research initiatives
• Hardening of exterior windows and aging infrastructure
• Renovation of existing patient units including VIP Suites, meeting the new standards created in the new tower for privacy, smart technology and infection control
• Upgrades to imaging and diagnostic equipment to support hospital-wide growth

Boca Raton Regional Hospital is preparing to launch a capital campaign with the objective of raising $150 million of the $300 million needed to support the construction of the new West Pavilion—home to the new unit for —and to advance several other strategic priorities across the hospital. As a first step, the Foundation is conducting a campaign planning study to assess philanthropic potential and community alignment.
The success of this effort will depend on the generosity of individuals who believe in the power of exceptional care and the importance of investing in the future of our hospital. Together, we can build on our strong philanthropic legacy and ensure that Boca Raton Regional Hospital continues to be a place where families are welcomed, lives are saved, and innovation thrives, for generations to come.
